This makes me sad. I've been been dreaming of blowing 4+ grand on this someday.

It's about what I expected from 300 HP in a Tacoma. I think some people expect the truck to fly or something. I just wanted the grunt I was missing from my past V8 trucks. The S/C gave me that back and a little more.

Where do you use yours? Did you buy it for daily driving/adventures or for going to the track?
I've always assumed that's what was wrong. Lol

Mine stayed in boost during towing. At cruise the bypass is supposed to open and does for me when I'm not loaded. Load the engine enough though and the flap closes a bit, leading to boost. The main thing that helps when towing with the S/C is off the line performance. I can actually accelerate reasonably with a 5000lbs load on my truck. Stock I couldn't do that.

I get about the same mileage I did before I got the S/C. Then again I do about equal parts city and highway. If someone did all city or stop and go alot I could see mileage dropping off a ton.

URD is better if you want to go fast or make maximum HP. If you are looking for Offroad or off the line performance go with the TRD.

Daily driving. Why the hell people would take a 4x4 to a track is beyond me. Racetruck lowered to the ground, sure. Truck with tires, tool box, larger tires, etc... just doesn't make sense to me to get a time with that.

Offroad the TRD S/C does give awesome hill ascent power.

I'll send you my routing info K?
Not to mention they're only going up now... Great

Okay, I understand now. Sounds like the TRD one is for me though, it would be fun to use offroad and would compensate for any added weight/bigger tires I put on.
    Thanks for the answers guys.
So are the URD packages linear improvements or specializations? I.e. are you adjusting where the power is or just going up in power each time?

Also, how do boost and the different URD packages affect the engine life? Christian I think I've heard you say it shouldn't affect it. I'm already at 115,000 miles but this engine is pretty healthy to my knowledge without doing a compression check. God knows what the mileage will be when I have 5-6K to blow. Maybe I can get into a gently used '15 by then.

Just trying to justify buying one since I just commute and lightly offroad. Lol
I knew Christian took his to the track. Torspd's build is also a prime example, although I think if you're going that far you'll want more than the TRD S/C.

To be fair Torspd's truck isn't really a 1GR anymore in anything but name! His truck is amazing, but he's done everything to get that truck faster. I can understand the guys that want to do that.

There will still be Superchargers on the used market. The problem will be finding the odds and ends for them without going to the stealership.

Which basically means paying the same or more that a dealer would have originally charged. Look at that TRD Supercharger main unit that's been floating around TW for like 4 years now, and yes, I actually almost bought it at one point before a friend told me its not worth it because of the hassle of tracking down all the one time use pieces and odds and ends that get lost on installation and take off. I think this is a kick ass deal that is just landing in URD's lap now lol, but the TRD super chargers will become alot more pricey on the private side I bet

URD will raise their price if the TRD superchargers go up. Business is business.

That's what I'm saying lol. If URD is the only SC on the market, then obviously they can raise prices and make a KILLING until a competitor shows up. Look at Rigid...they had the market cornered for a good year or so until all the cheap chinese bar vendors showed up and other actual competitors started making them on par quality wise.
