TRD supercharger

I looked at those as well but didnt feel like dropping 1.5k on them lol. I wanna say I read something that showed that our front cats are pretty high flowing as it is...the AFR ones outflow ours I'm sure, but I dont know what kind of a power difference that would be. I mean if you really wanna go there you could just weld in the fake cat bulges on some shorties and run O2 simulators and youd probably pass smog

 

Ok so do I need that s/c pulley install tool? It says for 4.0 and 5.7, I have the 3.4.

 

I'm running a TRD supercharger with no 7th injector, at about 230 ft above sea level. I get the occasional pinging (usually right after filling up the gas tank oddly enough, always use 91) but not very often. I aim to install the kit eventually but to answer your question, you'll be fine without it if you choose not to right away.

 

I'm not super familiar with the 1st gen superchargers. I wanna say I read that the 1st gens just have a keyed snout the pulley slides right on and then a cap nut holds it in place?

 

Yeah the price is steep, I've seen them for 1100 which is a little easier to swallow. I'm not a fan of the simulators, otherwise I'd just do the catless headers and do the sims.....itl be my luck having them go bad getting caught with them when I go to the emission place.
When I got my y-pipe, my buddy had a brand new pair with a temp coating on them he was gonna give me at a fraction of the price for what he got them for (plus the coating) but they didn't have the air injection tubes. He probably still has them if anyone is interested.

 

Drove it more, the power gains are awesome to me, but sounds is meh, and at WOT it sounds much better

 

Sweet....what is it about the idle sound or normal driving sound to be specific you don't like??

 

Not deep whatsoever, I wasn't expecting super deep, but not this "light". Sounds ricey to be honest almost like a fucking greasy civic

Gotcha. I wouldn't expect it to sound too deep. I say this lightly.....a little ricey wouldn't bother me too much.

 

Now i just need to queit it down with some type of muffler

Looks like it, yes. I dont think the pulleys are pressed on, I think its judt got a key to hold it in place and the nut to keep it on, but dont quote me on that.

Easiest way to check is to take that nut off and see if the pulley just pops off or not. Might take a whack or two to unseat it.

 

Pretty much any exhaust sounds ricey on our trucks. I like stock sounding trucks, unless they are an American v8. I added vibrant ultra quiet resonators to both tubes on my y pipe and swapped out the 3" ultra quiet resonator before the magnaflow for a 4x9x14 magnaflow muffler. It's pretty quiet and not too ricey now and that's with jba long tube headers

 

I like the way mine sounds with the 3" exhaust. Because of the URD Y pipe is does get a bit raspy at the higher RPMS, but its pretty throaty the majority of the time and sounds good to me

 

Take the nut off and pull the pulley off. They aren't pressed, but some are a bit more stubborn and require some tapping or a puller if needed.

 

Ok. So considering everything should I go with the 2.2 or 2.1? I'd like to order it today.
