It's super doable. You just have to understand what is going on with the supercharger and why it has to be done. When it is installed, the blower shifts the throttle body over a few inches and with doing that, you now have to shorten the tube coming out from the TB which runs to the curve of the intake tube. Super easy to do.

    Well shit. Lol.

IMO the only way to go over the stock box. Then again, I have no basis for comparison other than stock so...

It just isn't "direct bolt-on." Minor modification needed. Simple as that.

So does it count as water injection when it's like 1000% humidity in the morning?

Yes. You should just soak your filter in meth to make the mixture complete

A guy I met has a 98 Tacoma w/ the 3.4 V6 and he is an old man that bought the truck with the s/c on it. He had it taken off since he just bought the truck for a hunting rig. He is a heavy equipment mechanic and said it's not that difficult to take off or install. So I asked him what color it was. He said bronze. I thought there were only black s/c and silver s/c? Can anyone elaborate on a bronze Tacoma s/c? By the way he said the s/c that came off of his 98 Tacoma will fit in my 04 Tacoma. We both have the 3.4.

So as long it's the silver one w/ the red TRD letters which is the 1st gen S/C. And we both have the 3.4. Will it fit on my truck? Even though his truck is a 98? Only part that sucks is my truck is a DCSB 4x4 automatic. It kinda defeats the purpose to have a S/C with an automatic. He has all the parts and an extra belt for the supercharger.

It's actually grey but yeah that's the one he's most likely talking about. They don't come standard with red letters but people tend to put the provided decals over the raised logo. Yes it'll work on yours, as long as he has the provided brackets like the one for the TB as the old drive by wire style is different.
I wouldn't say a s/c'd auto has no definition because no matter what you'll be seeing a HP increase that you could never naturally provide to your truck. If anything you can combine power ECT with it to shift at higher points. Win win.

After the SC is installed do you have to have it tuned? My buddy had one on his 01 Tacoma but I never paid attention to it back in 01, other than it threw the back of my head against the head rest. Now he has a 2012 w/ a SC and same thing. Plus he has the short throw shifter. Is it smog legal? Since I live in CA. And do you have to have any certain company install it? Or will it still be pass smog if my buddy & I install it? I currently have 244,000 miles on my Tacoma and when my buddy had his 01 Tacoma, his engine didn't last very long due to him putting it in 4Hi off the line at stop lights just to blow people with sports cars doors off. I'm sure that wasn't the only reason. He drove that thing like he stole it every time he was behind the wheel. So I guess what I'm asking is, will the SC wear my engine out sooner? Only other question I have is will I need larger injectors? I read that the 3.4 in 2002 - 2004 have bigger injectors or a different spray pattern to where it's not so much a worry as the pre 2001 Tacoma injectors. I've also heard of the URD 7th injector upgrade. Thanks in advance everyone

I installed it myself and passed smog fine in ca. You can tune it yourself. I did it and it's pretty easy just time consuming.

You don't necessarily need to tune it, as these are bolt on design. Your best bet down the road will be the 7th kit that can be tuned accordingly. It is smog legal but I believe you need the sticker and something to do with the EGR, I will never live in Cali so I'm not 100% on this facet.
You could install it yourself or with a friend, there's instructions that the PO should have or you could find it online. Worse case scenario just ask someone here, like myself. Be generous when driving if anything your tranny will be the first to go with that power. I don't think I've heard of any boosted tacomas having a shorter life span due to F/I. Just keep it maintained and realize that the oil should be changed and bearings about every 100,000 miles. Don't worry about the injector size.

Are you sure it's a TRD supercharger? TRD never (to my knowledge) made a bronze colored blower. Either it was custom painted or it's a different brand.
