    Thanks for the info, I'll look into the fuel pump since it's much more reasonably priced.

    I'm using IK20 Denso Iridium plugs, was a big difference between those and the copper ones the previous owner had in. But now I'm thinking I should've gone with even colder ones, IK22?

    I always use 91 octane, that's the highest we get here in SoCal unless you can find one of those "racing fuel" gas stations that sells 108 octane for $10/gallon lol. I usually fill up at 76 or Shell. Rarely I'll fill up at Aarco, I can definitely tell the difference when I do. I go wheeling usually every weekend and I always toss in a bottle of octane booster when I do for good measure.

    Interesting, hadn't heard of that scenario before but I'll look into it. Thanks!

    Hoping that's not the case since I just had Toyota put these new ones in, but definitely something to consider.

    I will say this, it could just be in my head but the whine of the blower sounds so much better now after I put fresh oil in the nose. Considering it was practically dry when I checked it. It definitely sounds better at idle than before.

    I didn't think a bad bypass was a thing until it happened to me, but that was 100% my issue. My symptoms sounded very similar to yours. Had terrible knock at part throttle. Ran like a raped ape at WOT. Car was professionally tuned and the second (and final) tuner I went to was the one that cited the issue after I had been dealing with it for months.

    Interesting. I had a similar situation right after I got this truck, it was pinging real bad and I ended up with a check engine light, P0171 'System Too Lean Bank 1'. Took it to three dealerships to try and get it figured out, they changed out my MAF sensor, plugs/wires, O2 sensor and AF sensor and checked all my hoses for leaks, all to no avail. The code persisted for over a month until I finally took it to the dealership I bought it from in San Diego...they called in a 'master tech' and he diagnosed it right away, an uncapped port on the back end of the supercharger. I can't recall but I think it had something to do with the EGR system. Anyway it was supposed to be capped but wasn't, they capped it and the code went away. Pinging was much better after that, really only on the freeway now.

    Lol as I was reading that post and I saw 'System Too Lean Bank 1' I thought "there's a vacuum leak somewhere". If it was a really small port you wouldn't get a bouncy idle like a larger vacuum leak.

    Have someone start the truck while you look at the bypass valve. If you see the rod move when the engine starts you know it's good. For good measure you may also want to check the vacuum source for the bypass if it turns out to not be working.

    I know this all may sound like a long shot, but it's very easy to check the operation of it and if it's working it will rule out that possibility.

    If yours is the 1FZ, you could always add some cams.

    Unsure, but feeling 90 % confident, that a 2JZ header will bolt up to the 1FZ. Which would then mean a turbo header will bolt up.

    Yes. Depending on his year model, he is close to the 25 year mark ( i believe 25 and not 20?), and won't need to do emissions testing anymore. Just safety inspections.

    To be honest, I have never failed an inspection with my turbo kit on, as long as my cat was installed, and there were no check engine lights.

    Thus I have a removable cat, for "race days."

    So I have a shot at getting a great deal on a set of URD LT's and 02 sims. This would make me completely cat-less because I have URD's Y-pipe as well.

    Before I decide to pull the trigger I have to find out a couple of things.....one being, I read that a member on here with a 15 put this set up on his truck (minus the URD pipe, he still has rear cats) and instantly had problems from the get go. The issue was from the o2 sims. Gadget apparently new about it before hand which is neither here nor there but agreed to send him a set of different ones calibrated differently to send the appropriate signal to the ecu. The issue is something to the extent of the "newer Tacomas" (12-15's) that may or may not suffer from this in which how they read the o2 sims.

    Have you guys heard of this???? Or anything similar??

    I have a 13 and had no issues at all. But from what i hear is the 15 possibly 14 needs a different callibration? Could be wrong.
