TRD supercharger

The would have sold a lot more if they had let people roll it into the auto loan. The fact that you had to purcahse the truck. Drive it off the lot and back in. Then pay and have the S/C installed out of pocket really sucked.

 

You say that, and i know thats how the rules read, but they def let me do it. All at once.

Maybe it was because my dealership sourced my financing outside toyota? not sure how they usually do it, but i was surprised as well. I knew they werent supposed to when i asked.

 

Thanks. So my TRD catback search is out of the question now. I have TRD headers I still need to get installed along with the TRD Y pipe. So stock the exhaust size is 2.5? What do you mean by a small muffler, is this before the cat? I think I'm gonna leave both in; I want to put in an aero turbine w/ a resonator.

Yup. Just like the TRD CAI were by afe.

They didn't really up sell them that's the problem. When I was a casual Toyota buyer and not an "enthusiast" I would've never known Toyota offered superchargers.

 

I do not believe that was the issue. The tightening fuel economy standards imposed by CAFE 2025 are fundamentally changing the way auto manufactures are designing and building their car/truck engines. Sadly a parasitic low efficiencey roots blower has no place in this new automotive future. With Toyota's shift to Atkinson cycle technology it does not make sense to invest in more R&D for a dead technology. From here on out the new gasoline game is variable displacement and small displacement turbos.

Its .5hp when not under load lol.

I get 21mpg highway, its far from inefficient, check the specs from Eaton.

Also, my info about them not making enough money came from a friend at a dealership. they are a nice add on, but far from a must have item and they just didnt move them often enough. hell mine was the first install at my dealership and its been here longer than me (15yrs).

 

It's a truck. Why do you need more power. Get car.

Found a shop of just Toyota guys in Ft Worth. Tandem Automotive. They're really 4wd guys, but they have other skills. Found a ceramic coater in Arlington. I've been driving all over the place. You'd think out of 6.4 million people I'd find somebody.

 

Harrop partnered with someone to build Eaton e-lockers for Tacomas. I prefer Detroits but Eatons are no slouch either. Pretty exciting IMO.
