I let Toyota do everything... took them 2.5 days to complete, but I was only charged 6 hours of install time as per toyota's website. I actually got away with financing everything with the purchase of the vehicle... CAI / exhaust and all. looking back, I saw one online for about 1K cheaper... regardless, i love it.

I'm debating the kit as well. what did that 6 hours of labor cost you at the dealer? and where is the cheapest place you guys have found these kits? i'm just trying to figure an over all price, and weight the option of dealer install vs doing it in my garage. thanks for the help

6 hours at $95 per.I had a hard time finding a dealer who would do the install in the bok 6 hours in my area.I was getting quotes of 8-10 hours.
Fortuately,I have like 12 or more Toyota dealers in a 50 mile radius.
toyotaparts4u.com which is Toyota of Dallas is where I bought mine..
Biggest advantage of letting the dealer do the install is that you get the reaminder of your 5/60 powertrain warranty versus a 1/12 if you or another shop does the install.
I paid $4550 for the unit and install.
I have the '09 SC unit which I believe costs a few hundred more.
    I love the SC!

i guess i have another question.
what exactly to you have to modify to make this work. i'm more of a turbo guy, so thats how i see things.
i know its a belt driven charger, but do you have to modify the exhaust at all? can you use an NA intake? i know the stock injectors are good, but as far as fuel delivery do you need a new fuel pump? and is a reflash sufficient to run the new system?

The SC kits has high flow fuel injectors and Iridium spark plugs.
You don't have to modify the exhaust. You can, though.According to TRD,you can't install a CAI or headers without voiding warranty but many have without any problems.
A reflash by the dealer is necessary.

What sort of fuel economy are you guys getting on the 2005-present trucks with the SC? What was the figure with relatively stock tires and suspension?

The reason behind Toyota not warranteeing the SC installed with CAI's or exhaust headers is purely emissions based. The OEM air filter housing has a secondary "charcoal" filter to eliminate fuel vapor from escaping from the intake to the atmosphere. The OEM exhaust manifolds contain two of the four catalytic convertors that help burn hydrocarbons reducing the production of released pollutants into the atmosphere.

I had my SC installed by my dealer last week. I could have installed it myself but my time is valuable, my truck can't be down as long as it would take me to do it, and I wanted it to be warranteed as long as possible without purchasing an extended warranty.

That said, I reinstalled my TRD CAI last night as I feel the fuel system is completely up to the task of compensating for the miniscule increase in intake airflow the CAI provides as the fuel injectors are upsized and the ECU's fuel trim parameters are changed with the SC reflash. The SC actually sounds much more pleasant with the CAI. With the OEM air intake system the SC sounded like an industrial factory under my hood, with the TRD CAI it's more like a well tuned machine.

The TRD SC and required Fit Kit includes everything necessary to INSTALL the TRD SC onto the 4.0L engines. The TRD SC ECU Reflash (only available at a Toyota dealer) includes what is necessary for the engine to RUN PROPERLY after the TRD SC install.

    Hope this helps.

Does the $4550 include the CAI and cat back exhaust?

No, if you get the x-1 there is no need for the reflash.
