    Straight through the upper plenum, then lower plenum, into the combustion chambers.

    Higher end vehicles have these as a OEM part. Where the collected oil then drains back into the oil pan automatically. Like on my '97 BMW 328iS.

    That seems logical to me. Maybe not "kill", but clearly a different burn rate.

    It can't help the intercooler.

    I picked up my new o2 sensor @Torspd at Vatozone last night for $50 and installed it this morning. I think that was the problem the entire time. Recalibrated the unit and ran it. Response is lightning fast it's crazy! I've never seen a wideband snap around the rich/lean spectrum so fast. I think the previous sensor was just beat up and old because I bought all the guages used by a previous seller. Looks like the problem is resolved for now.

    Mine is still sitting on the shelf at the store, collecting dust never to be installed.

    Well the thing is, yes it collects the oil that gets through and that's all fine and dandy, but what does it do about fumes created by the combustion chamber? The fumes still get through catch can or not.

    Matter of fact I read somewhere once in an article that the extra length of the hosing involved for plumbing a catch can into an engine system disturbs either the overall function of the PCV or the way the vaccuum works. So it's actually doing more harm than good. Take that for what it is, but personally I don't mess with catch cans nor will I ever.

    If you really want to fix the problem instead of bandaid it, I would run a vaccuum pump. Turning the positive crackcase ventilation system into a negative crankcase ventilation system. Our superchargers would love it.

    Perfomance engines use them. To great benefit. As well as longevity. In performance car circles, or race cars, there is some form of catch can. Been around for decades. Nothing new, just re-implemented onto a Tacoma.

    I guess I wasn't clear. All that oil has to go through the intercooler. To me that's a bad thing.

    I'm well aware of the Bimmer's and other DI issues. Lol. Ours aren't DI though so that's not really a valid counter arguement. I know the oil will always be an issue if you aren't running a fancy vaccuum pump, but since most of us aren't willing to drop that sort of coin (I did back in the day) on one of those setups, the majority of the problem could be disrupted and resolved by installed an air to oil seperator. Jaguar installs them on their PCV setups and it seems to work relatively well. I would rather run that before a catch can. Matter of fact I have one sitting in my garage that I may just install.

    Yes but the oil stays there unlike a air to oil seperator which allows only air to pass through while it filters out the oil and fumes and allows it to drain back into the engine. The catch can still allows fumes to pass through, and you have to run x amount length of hosing to set it up which was not previously engineered to be a part of the vaccuum setup (if that is possibility of a factor, which it could be) so it is still allowing the fumes to contiminate the octane charge and get all over the internals. The seperator is plumbed in line using all the current PCV lines and maybe like an extra 2 inches of hosing.
