    Ha. That was the first thing that came to mind when I looked up the year model. All of the ones I have seen in the "modding scene" were VIP focused. Therefore I applaud you for wanting to do something different. Based on your year model, it might have connectors available to consumers. Which would then mean thw PnP ability. First start searching for aftermarket ecu's which might be available specifically for your car. What others might have used. If going Standalone, there is a possibility that something was used in Japan. Otherwise, AEM Infinity, or Haltech Platinum series are my choices.

    Then it comes down to working with or upgrading all of the known weak points of the engine and drivetrain.

    Done plenty here as well. 20 - 30+ trucks. Damn good times. Haven't had a mod day meet in quite some time. They used to be up to three day events.

    Well the search for traction bars was from a couple things. Say you were driving around and punched it and the rear end cam lose. Because of the soft springs the axle would wrap a bit then the tires would come loose and then grip again then come loose. Sort of making a "eeeek eeeek eeeek" noise as it gained and lost traction (even in slippery conditions). Putting traction bars on the machine eliminated that completely and firmed up the feeling of the truck when launching. I managed to knock off a little bit of time from my 0-60 with them as well.

    The other thing the traction bars did was get rid of the drive line vibrations that many of us have experienced when accelerating aggressively from 5-25mph.

    2 big benefits, but one drawback. Once they wore in a little bit they rattle on some bumps. Its the cost of going fast.

    I have hated that VIP thing since the very first wekfest show I went to. Good lawd is it ugly. Different strokes I guess. My preference is to keep it sleeper looking. But I can't put a very wide tire on the stock 7" wide wheels so a non-flashy set of wheels are a must.

    My quest for the right EMS has started. Absolutely no luck so far and still leaning towards the AEM FIC-8.

    The Tundra guys seem to say 400 hp is a safe medium. Even with their crappy cast connecting rods. I have the not so crap, but still crap, forged rods. But they also have a better tranny meant for heavy loads. I'm looking into putting the Tundra tow package oil cooler on, as they are quite cheap (at least compared to our 1GR OEM oil coolers). With some tranny oil cooler alongside. Engine internals won't happen until I pick up a spare motor to work on during my free time. Probably the same for the IPT valve body. However, I would like to keep this build mild since its still a DD, and will hopefully still get much better gas mileage than my V6 4Runner. Also, I don't believe anyone has ever attempted to put the TRD blower on a 3uz yet. Not even on Lextreme. Everything I've read, pictures I've looked at, etc, indicate that it should bolt up.

    Not to spend your money but you gotta try a tacoma with some sort of traction bars. It was well worth the $350 or so. My truck has not bucked once in the two years since i installed them. I think Torspd has the exact same ones I do from Calvert Racing (Caltracs). I dont think its your traction controll because mine would do it with it on or off.

    Look at the video on youtube. (I cant operate this damn ipad) search for thw title "2013 TRD Supercharged Tacoma Acceleration" by Ratcamaro. It will at the end of the video show exaclty what i was expiriencing. And some caltracs are the fix (if you can deal with the occasional rattler, or you can make some silencer busings for it. )
