Yeah, I know the basic story. Wasn't he under another name to for a short time and got that name banned as well. I know the mods can be a bit touchy about coming on with another user name if you're going to keep being the same dick.

I do figure it must have something to do with the runs he took at the drag strip. If anything gets mods swarming here it's talk of anything illegal or suggestive of illegal racing. I don't blame them either. The Law Enforcement background is strong with this mod group and cops aren't exactly the type to forgive and forget... which is a good thing.

I just noticed that foampile is back too... how da frick did he get back in. He actually went after a mod or two publicly for a couple of pages more than once. I mean, I've been banned for just suggesting that a mod is touchy for almost a month, I can't see how some of these guys come back so quick after basically lighting their boat on fire before plunging off the waterfall.

 

I'm just not a believer in the ban hammer. It's a forum. I think it's self-correcting.

 

I find that certain mods are very easy going and do a good job of rolling with the flow. I'm going to leave it at that. You can draw from that what I probably think of the others.

I have gotten a bunch of great info here, but I don't hang here like I used to. In the two years or so I've been on the site I feel it's changed. I almost never look at new threads.

 

Correct where necessary, but I think I am one of the rarities on this forum, since I openly talk about racing, and race. Of course, I follow the criteria set forth by the rules.

Span is one thing. But banning someone just because you don't agree with their opinion is another. I'm not a fan of street racing Or acts of stupidity. But I'm sure almost everyone on here has done some not so legal things.

 

I've been banned for that. Times 2. That's one of the reasons I rarely pop up in some threads anymore.

Question for you Tor. What would be best. Putting in rears from, let's say, a 4runner and then running a custom proportioning valve that you kind of figure out through trial and error or gutting the entire system and swapping in a total custom setup? Option A would keep all of the electronics happy but option B would likely give better results in terms of pure stopping power, no?

On a random side not one of the cooler MCM youtube videos is their mod comparison track day. They basically changed up the tires, brakes, and suspension on a couple of cars to show the true value of each mod and the value of them stacked together on the track. Hint, performance brake pads and rotors are the cheapest and most effective mod on most cars and trucks you can make.

Honestly, you're pretty close. My plan is to get the 4Runner rear disk conversion kit from Tundra Racing. Then get StopTech calipers, and good rotors. Then use the dial adjustable proportioning valve from Wilwood or AP Racing. Dial it in until the rear locks up the same time that the front does.

I know of people running them. I know of XR owners doing the rear Stop Tech upgrade as well. One member off-roaded regularly. Had a business doing off-road expeditions of some sort, in South America. Had multiple Taomas. Kept wearing out drums and shoes due to debris and silt getting in and staying in. Swapped to alleviate that issue. Not sure if he added adjustable proportioning valves.

There will be an update in my build thread for certain, once I have all of the components. I just needed to get this kit incase for some odd reason it becomes no longer available.

 

Yeah it's pretty low on my list to be honest. I've never had a problem with my drums but my front discs are looking rough after 30K of offroad use. I think it really depends a lot on what you are doing. For me, I think I'll try upgrading the front pads and rotors before I do anything to the rear. I'm almost always below 30 kph offroad because of our trails here so high speed stopping power isn't required. Plus I'm only on 33's. However, for someone who is racing on a track, I could see the massive appeal of tearing apart the back end and if I go bigger on tires I likely go that way too.
