I have a 06 tacoma with 180k on it and im wanting a little more pwee behind it Does anyone know if putting a supercharger would be worth it at this point? My engine and tranny are well taken care of. Never had to fix anything in either of them. Would puting a supercharger do anything major to hurt my tranny or engine. My taco is programmed woth a bullydog also

Should be just fine with a supercharger, but will really depend on how you drive it after it's installed

What exactly can an aftermarket tuner do to an N/A 4l v6?

Pretty much nothing, but a nice dent in your wallet.

Not true. I gained enough hp for you to feel it and i have a much stronger shift. It also used to manage fuel millage aswell so its not like i have it just to dent my wallet

Lots of issues with bulldog programers. Many have seen their programed tunes go back to stock settings without their knowledge. It's a good programers for diesel but for reason it really sucks on the Tacoma. I'd run the UniChip before I run the bully dog. Heck the Map ecu3 would be a better system then the bully dog tuner. Also the URD Ucon a stand alone system would be the best for your year truck.

I'd get a compression test just to check the condition of the rings since they are 180k miles on them. Also leak down test would be another good insurance to make sure the valves, valve seals, etc.... are in top conditions for force induction.

If all are good boost the motor. The transmission it would be a good idea to change out the transmission fluid since again 180k miles on the tranny and heat is the # 1 killer of transmission. For the most part the 5spd auto transmission is pretty stout since it was designed for the 4.7L V8 engine in the 4Runner that also shares the same tranny with the 4.0L V6. Hope that helps you out.
