Just received an OEM trail pipe exhaust tip. Wanted to check with anyone who has installed this. I noticed NYTOP specifies to remove a gasket ring prior installing their tip. Does this also apply to the oem version?

I'd keep the exhaust gasket if it's has a gasket style flange but you probably don't need it since you're dumping the exhaust.

I just installed the OEM one. you do not remove any gaskets/rings.
    1. ramp the rear of the vehicle to give yourself more space
    2. drop your spare, you need it out of the way in order to have the room to wiggle the existing segment off
    3. unbolt at junction past the muffler (if I recall its a 14mm deep socket)
    4. slide the muffler hangers off (for me it was easier to get them off the frame attachments side) - there are 2 of them
    5. wiggle out the existing tail
    6. transfer one muffler hanger onto trail pipe
    7. hang trail pipe with hanger
    8. bolt trail pipe on with two previously removed nuts
    9. clean up, take off ramps, raise your spare back into place
    10. all done!

+1 to what @BaltimoreMD posted. For the OEM trail pipe, the original gasket ring is still used, since the trail pipe flange has a recess for the gasket. My gasket ring stayed stuck to the main muffler side of the exhaust, so it was rather easy to bolt the trail pipe up. Also, yes, 14mm deepwell socket is the only tool required. For the rubber hangers, they slide off more easily if you spray the posts with a bit of soapy water.

The spare doesnt need to be dropped, if you have the vehicles high enough....
