Hello all. New Tacoma owner and new to customizing.
I have a new unmodified 23 Tacoma Sport. 17inch wheel with mud guards.
I would really like to get the 17” TRD wheels. From what I’ve researched the biggest tire I can put on my truck stock is a 265/70R17 with no rubbing or modification. Is this correct?
Will this still be true if I put on a TRD Pro rim which I think bumps the tire out a bit if I’m not mistaken?
I would like a bit wider stance so if I did go with a different rim other than TRD, what is the max negative offset I could get with size tire without any rubbing? Any pics of this setup would be great.

0 to +4 offset is optimal for no rubbing at that tire size.

I don't know the max offset you can run before you start to rub, but I can tell you that 17x9 -12 offset wheels will rub a ton at that size on stock suspensions lol.

Lol I’ll stay clear of those then.
    Thanks for the quick input

I just got a set of Replika 213 rims in 17 inch with Toyo AT3 265 70R17 tires. They have +5 offset; 8 inch wide. Fit no problem on my 2023 SR5. No need for removing mud flaps. Maybe 1/4 inch to spare at full lock. Might have got away with 275s...but probably pushing it.

I had the TRD Sema wheels with 265/70R17 and I hit the mud flaps every time I turned at speed or hitting a slight bump while turning (like into a driveway).

Anybody that says any negative offset does rub, probably doesn’t have mud flaps, or likely has smaller tires.

The rubbing with the TRD is minor - only enough to hurt your feelings and not components. If you aren’t bothered, you can run it fine. I found it annoying and I didn’t want to remove the flaps. Removing the flaps is also an option if you would rather do that.

    Thanks Gary. That helps.
And you as well, BLtheP. I think I’d feel the same way as you. The Hurt feelings, not components made me laugh cuz I get it. Just the sound of a rub, even tho very minor, would drive me nuts. As far as mud flaps…not sure how attached to them I am. More than I certainly expected. Almost had dealer remove but grew attached quickly so I like the option to keep even tho deep down I think the look I eventually am going for will be without but not ready for that at this point.

Keeping the mudflaps was a must for me. Getting the tallest tire was also a must for me. Getting the widest tire was NOT a must for me.

I happily settled for 33" pizza cutters and 17" Replika rims with +5 offset

I feel pretty much the same but would like to get an idea of how wide I can go just the same. Ideally I’d like biggest height and width, but also widest stance however minimal. If sacrificing width of tire is easiest way to achieve that with no rubbing, as long as it still looks aggressive, I’m ok with that. Just curious what three factors work best together for height, width and stance.
The more set-ups or confirmations I hear the more I’ll narrow it down. Thank you

Doesn't the offroad factory wheel have a +25 offset? I think +13 in the wheel chart above is incorrect.
