I lost one of the bolts to the rock ring on my TRD
wheels when out wheeling. No big deal thought and ordered some replacements from Ebay.

But they are short, I mean really short! And come to find out, ALL the bolts holding the ring on are very short. Like maybe 1 thread of engagement short at best.

So the new bolt wont grab threads at all... I'm wondering if the hole got slightly stripped when i hit whatever I hit. So I pulled the whole ring off to clean underneath it etc... now 4 of the bolts won't go back in at all, they grab no threads.

Damage done or not, these bolts seem REALLY short. Is this normal?

The locktite doesn't even engage. On any of them. I'm wondering if they are the wrong bolts somehow.

I'm thinking about going to Fastenal and seeing what they've got that's maybe 5mm longer. Probably won't be a torx head though.

    Anyone have any insight?

    so I determined bolt size:

    M8-1.0 x 10mm

Unfortunately bit of a unicorn size, forget Torx... I'm scouring the internet for something more like a 15mm long.

I just so happen to have all the screws, rings, and covers for those wheels just laying around taking up space. I took them off and then the truck got totaled. Want the screws or any other part?

I'll send you a PM but I need one of the rings and possibly the hardware. I have a 5th wheel but the ring is trashed. Located in northern Nevada as well.

Thanks to @beyer075 and @NV_Tacoma for the replies... I'm more curious how LONG the screws you have are. Trying to figure out if mine are short somehow... and if there are longer versions. Can someone throw some calipers on them and let me know, I would appreciate it...

    I think I have a solution.

Can't find the metric sized bolt to save my life.

But, just so happens, a 5/16-24 thread fits perfect. And 1/2" is just right.

Can't find them in Torx, oh well. Easy enough to find what I needed in an allen head. They are just a hair longer than the stock bolts which fixed my problem.

This still seems weird to me but at least I have a fix!

Hey interesting post as I just bought a set for my FJ and the installer showed me too that the bolts are too short! So how did your solution above work out? And can you pass on to me where you procured your bolts? Thanks!
