Okay, (The Backdrop) I am at about 50K miles on TRDPro 4Runner stock Nittos. So long story short is discovered ToyoTec has a lift that is specifically set up for TrdPro that allows me to keep stock Bilstein setup i paid extra for with Trd Pro package but gets mild 2" lift to get into 285s without a rub issue.

I have an email in to ToyoTec without a response yet BUT does anyone have any experience lifting a TrdPro Taco but keep TrdPro shock set up? If so what tires then and pictures. I just swapped my stock tires out for one size up 275/75/16 Durtracs and that helped some but I am feeling the need to go a little higher and bigger on tires. Embarrassed to admit most of the upgrade is cosmetic. I do a lot of beach drive on so it will be used BUT i have no issue with my current set up on mostly a daily driver.

4 Runner and Tacoma aren't the same - you realize this, yes?

My $0.02 would be - if you're replacing your coils to get more lift you might as well put better shocks in as well. Nothing wrong with Bilstein - but I'm betting ToyTec has something much better for you. It's usually good to install coils and shocks that are paired together so they have similar travel capabilities.

Are you just trying to fit 285's or do you want better off-road performance?

Appreciate the response. Like is said, I am not a heavy off road user (anymore. It's a daily driver and care about things like onroad day to day MPG and long road trip driveabilty. Off road use is often in summer early fall to drive on soft sand. so far although purchased in late fall and she hasn't been put to a full summer test with family packed load of gear ... performance wise I think I can probably do ok. But do want some performance gain to justify cost.

Majority of need is cosmetic. I am coming from a lifted full size. Like to sit a little bit higher and even with the improvement of the biggest tires I could fit in stock set up ... still seems little small to me.

Of course I realize my 4Runner and Tacoma are different. But to me seems to be realated question ... can I keep a package OEM shock set up (which a lot of people apparently do on 4Runner TRD Pro) add lift and add tire size.

I don't know the answer to your question, but is it just a spacer lift on top of the coilover?

If you're concerned with MPG's DON'T go with 285's. I did and regretted it. The TRD Pro looks great, why mess with it unless you're doing some SERIOUS offroading?
