No, sir. I think there was a misunderstanding............ While I would agree with that statement, since BFG KM2s do have harmonics technology built into the tread design, I'm simply trying to say that a re-tread tire does not enjoy the same harmonics that a regular tire does, and therefore will be louder. A re-tread copy of BFG All-Terrains ("Wardens") will be louder than the real thing, and a re-tread copy of GoodYear MTRs ("Guard Dogs") will be louder than the real MTR that Goodyear makes. Hope that clears it up...

Yup, we are on the same page - it was just said an odd way that made me stop and question what you were saying.

That's awfully good, because Sir, I would have had to take fisticuffs with you. We may have had to fight to the crumpet!

Any new updates on these TW tires? I'm currently considering a set and these are very tempting at half the price!

I just ordered a set of guard dogs yesterday, I will have them by Saturday!

And btw, for what it's worth, Colin is running these same tires already and says that his have actually gotten quieter than when he originally purchased them, not louder as was expected.

I posted WAY back when on Treadwrights and how they did successfully make the "long distance" trip to South America without a failure...

I am also VERY TIRED of the recap "fairy tale" that all the "gators" are from caps..:p

Direct from Bandag ; " FACT; Virtually all the scrap rubber on the road contains wire, indicating casing failure. There's NO wire in the rubber retreaders we use."

    Get your Retreaducation at retreadinstead.com

For a company to thrive and survive like Treadwright is doing I would say it was more than great customer service and that their product must be worthy of that growing customer base, both "new & repeat"....;)

I see what they are saying about the scrap rubber on the road, but its still from a recapped tire that those pieces come off of, so hence the hesitation to buy recaps.

So is anyone that does regular highway driving, running these tires? Any issues?

I head up to my cabin every couple months, which is about 80 miles of highway driving, than another 20 miles of side roads, and dirt roads. I also have a 5 month old son, and a 7 yo son. So I have hesitations getting these. But the prices are attractive.

They don't have the size I really want to run...

But for the price, I might just try these things.

Even better read the NHTSA's report "Commercial Medium Tire Debris Study" and draw your own conclusions. The report basically states that tire debris found on the roadways across the U.S. failed due to improper maintenance or road debris causing the failure. Manufacturing defects accounted for a very small percentage of failures and the defects were split between OE and Retreads.

Are there more retread carcasses on the roadways than OE carcasses? Yes.
But the percentage of Trucks that run retreads is over 60% due to the cost differential so naturally the majority of the carcasses on the road way are retreads but the percentage isn't any higher than the percentage that is in service.

Read the NHTSA's report as stated above. Your statement is not based by fact.

SORRY BUT THAT LINE IS BULL $HIT....

We as a fleet lose as many VIRGIN tires as caps and the caps are lost 60% of the time due to NOT getting them repaired quickly enough..."Oh its a cap just air it back up" kicks us in the a$$....

Caps do NOT go BAD...casings do...

Your opinion is just that BUT DO NOT COME IN HERE PREACHING TO THE CHOIR....Please put 30 years and a million miles to the test or prove the companies that "do it for living wrong"... then we will talk..

Everyone enjoy the rest of their weekend

I'm not sure if you are talking to me? But I said that as a general statement, that, that is what people see, and fear the recaps. If this is directed at me GFY respectively of course. :D

I asked a legit question, because I'm thinking of getting them, meaning I like them. I was just curious of people's experience with them. I don't know a whole lot about recaps. Mostly what I have read on here.

Anyway, thank you dexterdog for those links and I will check them out. Also thank you krewblink.

I figured for the price I'd try them out and ordered a set of 285/75/16 Warden's AT, just waiting for them to come in. Really wanted the Goodyear Duratrac's but I need tires BAD and with trying to build a house in a few months I liked the price of these. From the reviews I've seen on her from members I haven't really seen any bad one's so I figured I'd take a shot with these. Guess we'll see....
