After months of reading threads across several forums, reading just about everything I could from internet searches about retreads and specifically Treadwright retreads, I decided to pull the trigger. I purchased 5 - 265/70-17 Warden's without kedge grip. I was having some difficulty with one not balancing with a reasonable amount of weight, if I recall Treadwright says they should balance with like 6oz. anyway, I submitted a warranty request through their web site and left the next week end for Rausch Creek Off Road Park. Got to the park, aired down and proceeded to cut both driver side sidewalls, one was an immediate blowout the other cut but not leaking - yet... I won't bore you with the rest of the details about the flats.

A few weeks after returning from Rausch I get a call from Susanne from Treadwright asking about the warranty request, I told her I decided not to pursue it because I damaged the tire while off roading, she offered to refund $25.00 just for the heck of it. I know it doesn't seem like much but as far as I concerned she didn't have to do that.

I went and purchased 2 new tires from Treadwright to replace the damaged ones and within 500 miles I noticed a split in the sidewall of one, so I again submitted a warranty claim and without question the tire was replaced.

As far as tread wear, well they seem to be holding up well and not wearing irregularly or prematurely. All in all, I'm not disappointed with the purchase and I am more then pleased with their customer service. We will see how they hold up in the long haul.

I replaced Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac's with the Wardens and they are 10 times quieter. Now I'm guessing the Guard Dogs bark really loud compared to the Wardens too.

Love the tires, but I'm just about ready to give up on Treadwright as a company. I've run four sets of Treadwrights in the last few years, all with Kedge grip (excellent in snow) and I've had nothing but good to say about the tires so far.

A few weeks ago I ordered yet another another set of Treadwrights (Guard Dog MT) and clearly told sales rep 'Skyler' I was ordering Kedge Grip (as in ALL my previous orders). For some reason, this time they decided to ship me the standard (non-Kedge) treads instead.

I had ordered from Treadwright so many times before that I never even looked close at the treads before getting them mounted. Obviously, I'm at fault for not checking them... but the bottom line is I've now got brand new tires on one of my trucks which will be far from ideal this winter and my calls to Treadwright support lines have been useless at resolving the problem.

When I call Treadwright support I get endless hold, endless ring or disconnects. When I call sales they acknowledge their phone system sucks and say "we'll review our call records" and "we will educate our sales staff". Yeah. I'm sooooo happy they're willing to improve their customer service at my expense.

Next time I'll save the $*$*$*$*$ I threw away on these tires and go back to ordering brand names from Tire Rack.

Welcome to TW. We keep a mop in the corner for puddles of tears. Your worthless tires will be fine in the snow.

    I didn't like mine...

I sold em off and bought some used firestone m/t's which have their own issues but at least they're not so damn annoying, that high pitch whine shit get's old, and I have no fear of them coming apart on the highway.

I don't see a problem with the review except it's in the wrong forum.

Maybe YOU think it's fine to drive unsiped MT's on icy roads, but I'm not an idiot. I've spent the last dozen winters NOT slipping all over the road and causing accidents and I'm not about to change that.

They'll be OK... ONLY if/when when I can get them siped.

But i bought brand new cooper atp's...brand new tires that were less expensive than used tires that i didnt know the history of. That, and the treadwrights were nearly impossible to balance correctly. They had to send me SEVEN tires before i got a set of four to balance anywhere close to acceptable to their standards...yes i followed their procedures and recommendations.

Edit; 265/75/16 warden with kedge built on bfg ko carcass... Never rode smooth, even when balanced to their specs...many had a visible wobble on the balance machine.

they are noisy as a m/t should be, and they sure do perform like a m/t should.

i have about 7k miles on this set with no problems as of yet.

    I'm happy for $138 each :D

I had to Google the company to see, because I just couldn't believe you guys were talking about retreads. Now that I see you are... I'm leaving before I piss someone off.

The Warden's are ATs, not MTs and are, from what I have heard, no different in noise than most all other AT tires. I am waiting on my wheels right now. I got a set of 5 Wardens from Treadwright and am looking forward to getting them installed. (285/75R16)

So wait, you ordered something online, and when they arrived you failed to inspect them before having them installed? Sounds like it is on your end really. I buy thousands of dollars in parts every week from the same companies all the time, and EVERY shipment is inspected before I install anything, even tires. Mistakes can happen.

Go ahead and bring your opinion. It's not going to change many people's minds here. Many of us have run these retreads for a long time and love them. As mentioned in another reply to your post, these are not the same as the older retreads from 20 years ago, or the tractor-trailer retreads.

Okay, this is cool - looks like my review has stirred up some good discussion. A little additional information. When I got them mounted and balanced the shop put 1-4oz bag of Equal in each tire and I still had a slight vibration. After I had to replace the 2 driver side tires, I had them transfer the beads and then they balanced them again with a small amount of stick on weight and they now run smooth as silk. I'm guessing that had they originally put 6oz in each tire, that would have been good. So far they are wearing great, still look new.
