Haha chickened out. It was really tempting but I really want the Hankook MT's so I passed. Ended up buying some Nitto Terra Grapplers with 60-85% tread for $250. I couldn't pass up the deal and gives me room to do some maintenance that is needed.

Just called treadwright to order some 265/75R16 wardens in load range c...they said the C's are not currently available and they dont yet have a date when they will be, but I could go ahead and order load range d. anyone have much experience with the d's vs c's for this particular tire, or know how long i should expect to wait if I'm gonna get the C's?

If they're 285's, they'll be around #65. Pretty heavy tire.

I hate to ask such a noob question, but what is static balancing? i know absolutely nothing about this kind of thing and have now heard of static, dynamic, and road force balancing and dont have a clue what any of this is. I just take them to a shop and they put them on the machine that spins them (typically a red machine with a black plastic hood) and then mount them on my truck.

    thanks for any help!

54lbs? Wow, didnt think they were that much!

I just had them installed this morning. Warden AT 265/75/16 Load Range "E".

After hearing everyone else say that Discount Tire installed them no problem, I made an appointment & took them there (specifically mentioning on the phone they were re-treads). Showed up and the guy said they dont install re-treads cause they are a danger to the staff  really?? And also that they are dangerous in general. Disagreed with him on various levels and wasn't happy.. Anyway, called up a local tire shop, Big-O Tires and took them in. Installed in 45 minutes, $80 and no problems whatsoever. The rep at Big-O didn't flinch when telling him they were re-treads.. So there you go. So for future reference some Discount Tire's apparently install them, some don't I guess.

Only have driven them a mile or so from the tire shop to work and they seem very solid. Can definitely tell the weight difference (coming from a 245/75/16 Hankook Dynapro AT) but they feel much more stout and exactly what I was looking for!!!

Static is what they did in the old days. It balances the tire to 0. Road force will balance your tire for optimal road performance, which may not be 0

For those of you that have filed a warranty claim how long did it take until they got back to you with action? Just curious.

I submitted one for some cracking near where the rim meets the tire (2 tires) last Tuesday and got a confirmation email a couple days later. No response yet if anything will be done.

It took almost a week for me to get a response. I have some minor cracking by the side lugs. Mine was more of a safety question than anything. I have been running mine for over 4 years and 50k on them and there is still a lot of tread left.

If I don't hear anything from them tomorrow, I'll probably give them a call to check on the status. Yea the cracking sort of worries me a little since I'll be doing a 1,200 mile roadie in a couple months.

Got a pic of it? I had some very small ones by the rim. My buddy has a front end shop and knows tires quite well and he told me no worries. They haven't gotten any worse in the last 2 years since I noticed those small cracks.

Yea I'm thinking it's not too big of a deal but just worries me a little bit for that long drive. But anyway these are pics of my left front tire which is the worse and then it's starting a little on the pass front side.
