    @TacoTurboMan
    When I bought my truck it had year old dried tree sap. I found a video were the guy took a razor blade (listen to the screms) the long snap off type. He cut a total of 4- 1” long strip of painters tape and put two layers on each end of the razor blade. This raises the blade off the clear coat. But scrapes off a good 60-80% of the sap. Replace tape as it wears. Then use manual labor to remove.
    worked wonders for me, I used some tar remover, and lightly polished to a bright shine.
    Scroll down to see paint/ roof sap. [IMG]

    It's the best way, safest and less invasive. Don't use a razor blade!

    I didn’t see Goo B Gone suggested once here…does that not exist out west? That stuff works wonders for a variety of sticky stuff.

    Its kind of like paint over spray. Paint needs a light nibbing with some 2500 grit paper to knock the tip off and then a chemical used to wipe the un cured paint off. This sap needs to soften up, by heat then wiped off. It's not a hard process, cheaper than using a bunch of chemicals and causing a reaction to the paint which can soften up or stain. Heat it, wipe it away with a mild solvent is the fastest, less invasive and cheapest way!

    As crazy as this sounds , I use peanut butter on my dogs fur to remove tree sap. Would PB be bad for the paint?. Not chunky though

    Yeah peanut butter is fine for your paint and could work for your sap issue as long as the sap has not hardened. The oils will break down the sap as it does on your dogs coat. Olive oil and coconut oil also work to break down sap as well.

    I would have to lock up my kids and especially the dog.

    If this happened to this guy...local detail shop it would go.

    Get 2 or 3 cans of 3M General Adhesive Remover spray and some cheap microfibers that you can throw away after, Costco has a 36 pack of yellow microfibers for around $20. Try it out, just keep it off of any textured black plastics and your TRD Off Road emblems on your front doors. Works great at removing anything sticky, like double sided tape, road tar and sap. Just let it sit for about 30 seconds then start wiping it off.
