It's just hard to watch the vid being a dog person, the situation could have been handled so much better and the dog didn't need to be shot.

I agree.. I see the point of the cops but let the guy go put the dog back in the car and then arrest him.. he wasnt resisting.. no need for the dog to get hurt for trying to protect its owner. A dog doesn't recognize uniform, it recognizes someone taking the owner..

I really feel for the dog, it sucks, which is why I'm pissed at the POS dog owner who injected himself in a LEO operation and allowed his dog to get shot. The cops should bill him for the bullets.

I have been in that situation more times than I can count. I would have done the same exact thing the cop did. You can see he tried to reach for the leash but could not grab it. 4 shots? shit I would have pumped more than that into that dog to put it out of its misery.

I was on patrol once and this local let his dog loose on me and I didn't see it until I had turned around and at the last possible second I put three rounds through it. I had no time to think, just to react and this was a big angry fucker too.

Ok, so even though the dog didn't deserve it, what should the LEO's have done? Sit down and have a calm meeting with the dog, discussing how the situation should be handled? No. The true fault lies with the owner getting the dog into that situation in the first place. He did the dog in the car, he just didn't secure him well enough. Again, it goes back to the owner.

The LEO did the right thing, as shitty as it looks.

i don't know that the officers were allowed to do that, in the end officer safety is their #1 priority.
