I’ve heard good things about Gary’s auto in Pasco. Never had the taco there but used them on other cars. Seems honest. Prices are about the same as other places when I’ve compared.

I've only had minimal interaction with Myers, they seemed decent enough but were all too eager to replace the read end in my Ford instead of fixing it (ended up fixing it and still goes good...well that part of the vehicle anyways lol). Damn, that really sucks, hope you weren't out of pocket for any of that.

I want my transmission and drivetrain looked over. The dealer where I bought the truck is several hours away and supposedly replaced the clutch but I'm not sure how much I trust their work after finally being able to drive the Tacoma everyday and getting a much better feel for it.

Well if you've heard good things and I haven't heard anything bad at least, then I might have to add them to the short list of shops to check out. Thank you.

Lockers did not work after maintenance that included full axle rebuilds front and rear. Every part on my steering was replaced till it was discovered it was the gearing on the block mounted pump (didn't pay for that) and I let it go on the lift as the only damage appeared to be the step and I had planned on removing those anyway.

I will say, not the place to take a Land Cruiser. There's a much better place for that downtown. One that specializes in those.

That should be a pretty straight forward for most shops

Thanks for heads up, sounds like that was one hell of a headache to deal with. Like everyone else, there is a lot going on and I don't have the resources or the patience at the moment to deal with something like that :crapstorm: lol

I would think so too, I just wasn't sure if there was a "go-to shop" for Toyotas or Tacomas specifically (outside of the dealership I guess) as I've never owned a Toyota. I was just trying to avoid paying more money than I had to in diagnostic fees whiile feeling out a few new shops. Thanks for the input as well.

If it's just a visual inspection I'd be happy to meet up with you and take a look, might save you some cash.

In the past Ive had excellent luck with Astleys out by the airport in El Pasco. Not necessarily a Toyota specialist though. My wife took a car there with a transmission that was making noise. They drove it and asked how long she planned to keep the car. Answer was two or three years and their response was that it would last at least that long and to just take it home. Could have been a $3K bill and instead they earned my business.

There is a place in I think Kennewick other than the dealership that specializes in Toyotas but I cant remember the name. Supposed to be very good.

Genesis Auto. They do good work and a reasonably priced. Took my T4R there for some brake work a year ago. They did try to "up sale" me on a few things, but that what they are suppose to do, right?

I would really appreciate that, thank you. It would really be helpful to get another set of eyes on it.

That sounds like a decent shop if they were straight shooters like that. I'll have to give them a look and maybe give them a call or stop by. Haha I haven't heard El Pasco from too many other people.

When I was doing some research on shops around here Genesis Auto seemed came up and they ended up on my shorrt list of places to check out. The only thing I wasn't too sure about was their pricing but if it's reasonable/competitive that's a good sign and I will at least stop in and talk with them. Thanks for the info.

After reading the forums here and reviews online and talking with a few people I decided to get some Redline MT-90 for my transmission and transfercase. It was an elusive creature to hunt down (I could have ordered it online but I wanted to find a place locally) but I found it at 9 to 9 on Court Street. Has anyone used it before? All the talk about it makes it seem like the go-to oil but damn does it hurt the wallet :spending:

Far more in common with the southwest than the northwest. Sand dunes, sage brush, and a taco wagon on every corner.

And then almost the complete opposite just over the Cascades...a very interesting state to live in for sure.

I've only heard good things about it so I'm excited to try it out. Glad to hear you had good results and thanks for the response.
