Hey All! Just looking for some ideas/recommendations for some tri-fold hard covers for my 2021 Tacoma, 5 foot bed. I assume this has been in other threads, sorry still sorta new, but thought to start one for some conversation. Anything reliable/secure whatever price. Thanks in advance!

Go to AutoAnything and look at what will fit your truck. I have the Extang Solid-Fold 2.0 that’s 5 1/2 years old and going strong.

You can also search this forum for threads on hard tonneau covers. There are a lot of threads on the subject.

    Welcome to TW!

I got the OEM as well, it's great at sealing and it's strong too. I'm about to sell mine once my RSI EVOA cap gets here. I need more space and the cap will allow me that.

Extang Solid fold was what I went with. There are only 4 metal brackets left behind when I remove it. Seemed like the others had more hardware and I spend more time with it off the truck.

I bought an "Undercover Ultra-Flex Tri Fold" and have been transferring it to my new trucks to the years. Still in great shape.

Does it seal pretty well to keep water out? I’m torn between this and the lomax.

I'm pretty sure the undercover flex and BakFlip MX4 are the same covers... one company owns the other... just picked up a flex for $100.

It seals pretty well except just a little at the tailgate corners but I park under a carport and it's tail sits directly under the eave of the roof. The battery operated LED light that comes with it is nice but nowhere as bright as the OEM Toyota bed lights. It clamps in the track so you don't have to use it if you don't want to.

Something this guy doesn't mention is that the side frames clamp to the truck's bed tracks, this makes those "tie downs" that came with the truck unusable.

With the Toyota bed cover, when you want full access to the bed you have to remove the entire cover. And then were do you put it?
With the BakFlip, it folds up and gets secured in an upright position at the front of the box, blocking the window but not the middle brake light. It was slightly less $ than the tonneau cover from Toyota.

When i got my truck I found a used Gator EFX cover for 250 and its been great. The guy had all the hardware and stuff for it. I love the flush look. I just had to travel a bit for it but no biggie since it was a good deal.

Well, here's another recommendation for Lomax.
    Easy on and easy off.
Can be removed in less than a minute if needed.
    Looks great (low profile).
Easy to use on a daily basis.
Built strong and holds up/ages well.

Another vote for bakflip here. I have the G2 but I believe the only difference between mine and the MX4 is that mine has a gloss finish. Great cover and it gives you access to the entire bed without taking it off. The only water I get is by the tailgate corners, but that's not the cover's fault.

Went through the same process a few weeks back and went with the Lomax Urethane and could NOT be happier. There is a Lomax thread on here with two reputable vendors that will offer you the lowest cost anywhere. In my case, I went with urethane due to the much higher UVs in Hawaii. Once installed, I ceramic coated the top and seals to give it a bit more protection.

Another great thing about the Lomax is it sits low, nearly flush with bed rails. It has good water protection (most will leak a little), which can be improved with strategic seal placement. It folds up nicely and can be removed quickly by one person for oversized bed items.

Have received a lot of positive comments and questions on my cover as I don't think there are many in Hawaii, especially when you consider that the Tacoma IS the unofficial state vehicle i.e., nearly every third vehicle is a Tacoma!
