Trying to do power steering flush but can't get return hose off. Afraid to pull too hard and break the plastic fitting. I can feel there's a.large barb at the.end of the.fitting. Any tricks would be appreciated.TIA

Gentle grab and twist with a pliers first then a pull. You'll feel it snap with the twist once it's loose.

Warm it up with a hair dryer. Be gentle.

This, spin the tube first to release it then it should slide right off.

Don't pull on the tube. It will act like a Chinese finger trap.

Use a flat blade to push on the end of the hose, after you have loosened it like the others have detailed.

I have a few things for removing stubborn hoses. A set of hose pliers, like extra long needle nose but with a hoop on the end for grabbing a hose. A hose slitter for slicing the hose off the barb without putting a groove into the barb like a knife would. Another thing that clamps onto the hose with a handle to grab and twist to break it loose, then it will usually pull off once it’s loose.

Use a pick on the inside of the hose, between it and the barb, to free it up a bit

A little of this and a little of that.
I’ve had good results using a “booger hook” (cotter key removal tool) when trying to separate hoses from the fittings. The rubber and plastic really like to bond over time.

^^ a hose pick set is nice. If you can get the end of the hose pulled up a bit spray a little shot of brake cleaner in there and work it around.

Brake cleaner is great as a temporary lubricant, it dries up quickly and doesn't leave any residue. Works good for slipping a stubborn hose clamp into position on a dry hose
