Went to my local wheeling spot today and came across a city cop who had buried the rear wheels of his crown Vic in the soft sugar sand. He flagged me down asked if I had a recovery strap, I did, and I got him unstuck. He then proceeded to trespass me because the land is private. Dick move? maybe. Should I have been back there? No. I probably should have left him stuck.

That's some bullshit lol. You probably did the right thing though. I'm sure if you left him stranded then he would've pulled you over later and threw the book at you. You're truck sticks out enough he could find you pretty easily I'd assume.

Sticks out like a sore thumb in south Florida. I get lots of dirty looks from the snooty Benz drivers down here.

Sucks he was a dick but it probably saved you in the long run. He could've been greatful and let you slide but that's the thanks you get for being a good person I guess.

Patiently waiting to see this new bumper. How much lift did you get out of the 63 swap (never got a clear idea after a quick search) and can you determine how much you lose after you install the bumper?

I got a total of around 4" with the swap, the bumper and new bed rack will put me down around 3.5" total lift. These chevy springs hold some weight.

Makes me more interested in doing the mod. Have the AllPro Expedition springs but think they have settled and back is a tad lower than the front. Icons on the front are adjusted all the way to the top so not even lifting the front very much.

It’s worth it. Ride quality is far better than any replacement leaf packs for the Tacoma’s.

    I want a 63 swap, but I don't need a 4" rear lift :annoyed:

Shorter shackles fix that. I'm on 5" shackles.

So, shorter shackles and 2-leaf springs (without the over-load spring) should do it then?

3 leaf and no overload. There's no 2-leaf option.

You think I would still have the weight handling capacity and stability that my Expos give me? Especially with 300lbs of gear in the back and towing the 1600lb trailer. Three leafs seem kind of skimpy.

Say wutttt...I swear I saw somewhere that the newer 2wd models had a 2+1 option.

The load capacity of the chevy springs is higher than that of any toyota pack. There is a 4+1 leaf pack option that has a lot of load bearing capacity.

I’m running 2 leaf right now just to speed up the break in process. When I removed the 3rd leaf, the ass end lowered 2”. Over the past few weeks, it’s lowered another inch. My front and back are perfectly level. This weekend I plan to weld new shackle hangers right in front of the ones that are already on the truck. This should get my shackles at the right position. Then I’ll add the 3rd leaf back in.

I don't have any weight in the back and don't plan on it for the foreseeable future though. I gots to do more research on this, but seems like a better rear setup than just slapping in dakars or deaver leaf packs and calling it done.
