At this point, I’m considering going a different route on a different platform.

That blows. I hope low range's website is accurate with there being an adapter that works for my truck.

I’m hoping that something comes along so I don’t have to go buy a Jeep.

I know the feeling. Ive got a couple big buys left for my rig and then I'm done. Gears and atlas or taco box if they ever start making them for the mt. I've considered a 4door jk a few times tho..

Ehh. I think I'm sticking to ifs. Given that its my daily and I only wheel a handful of times a year the sas wouldn't be worth the cost or loss of road manners. I'll most likely just re gear and be done. It not like I'm hardcore crawling so the atlas would be a bit overkill but we'll see when the time comes.

That’s where I’m at with it. I may replace the lowers with the TC lowers and go to 5.29 gears.

I really want 5.29s but 3100rpm at 75 sounds terrible.

You’d be surprised. The gearing/rpm charts were way off on my 4.88’s. At 75 it says I should be at 2950 and I’m at 2600.

Hmm. I used a calculator I found. Put in your final trans ratio, axle ratio and tire size and it told me 3070ish. I want the 5.29s for crawling but idk about those highway rpms. Stock I turn 2650 at 75. My OD is only .85

There’s a spreadsheet on TW somewhere I used and it wasn’t very accurate.

JLU Rubicons are about 50k so a 35k tacoma can go along ways with 15k.

However a JLU Rubicon is unreal of the lot off road. So, I vote Jeep if you don't need a bed and only looking for offroad performance the Tacoma can't compete. If you need a bed the Tacoma can't compete with the new Jeep Gladiator Rubicon either OFFROAD that is.

Not comparing the two as far as daily driving or reliability. I'm not a toyota fan boy, other manufacturers make great vehicles too.

If I ever got a Jeep, it wouldn't be a JK. The 3.6 is a turd. 4.0 is the way to go.
