Working base model '09 4 cyl, automatic. I followed the info on the 12/2006 post by mhadden:
    http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/61-2nd-generation-2005/171992-diy-oem-cruise-control.html
And, it all seemed to go well, but no cruise.... I added the stalk, and connected the 3 wires to the steering hub, 2 from stalk, and 1 from the horn. Reading over the info, there is no mention of needing to install a fuse in an empty hole, or adding a brake switch, which I find odd. (the clutch switch addition is needed if stick shift, this car is an automatic)
Anyhow, got it together, but no cruise. Can anyone think of something I have missed?

Is there a rotation sensor or a trigger magnet or is it all done electronically?

Assuming the switch you installed is good, you'll need to run some wires from the steering column to the ecu and ground. This thread will explain it further:

Thanks for the Link Kyle. The last of the 41 pages does mention that the '09 Tacoma would not have the preWired harness installed. SO,.......... looks like my simple "add a stalk" will not do he job. I am up for the wire additions though, hopefully not much worse than the airplane I work on. At least I have a good source for the 20/22 Ga wire!
I have not waded through the entire beginning 35 pages, but I have to believe that was mostly Q & A that got answered closer to the end, which is where the comment on '09 wires was determined.
