tried to change oil today but...

    it seemed like the drain plug was torqued on there! i usually ratchet it an ounce above hand tight but i tried to take it off and it felt like i was gonna rip out the oil pan before the drain bolt. do they sometime torque on because of pressure? ive never had this happen and should i break out the torque wrench tomorrow?


    also anyone know any good exhaust shops near greenville nc, my check engine light came on and the obd reader narrowed it down to the exhaust/fuel system

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    Tap the wrench with a hammer, and see if that helps. The plug should only be about 30 lb-ft.

    getting there....
    oil plug should come off fairly easily. also....for the cel.....try tightening the fuel cap a few clicks and reset the light...see if thats the problem.

    Check for exhaust leaks at the manifold, pipes, catalytic converter. Repair as required.
    Use a scope to diagnose the oxygen sensor operation (Tip: The oxygen sensor in front of the catalytic converter normally has a fluctuating waveform. The waveform of the sensor behind the converter should be more steady).
    Inspect the downstream heated oxygen sensor (HO2), replace if necessary
    Replace the catalytic converter

    What was the outcome?? I am having what sounds like the same problem...Noise from under the truck, but chasing down a "EGR Vaccuum Problem" with no good results. I have a cracked manifold and am trying to find a "good" fix for that which may fix my PO420...Sounds like a plan to me! BTW 2000 Taco regular cab with 319K miles!!!!

    Your cracked manifold may be the cause of your egr issue.
