I have personally never had one fail on me.

The Ford Ecoboost 4 cylinders, the Rover 2.0 four cylinders, and the Ford 6.0 diesels however......ive sold a metric crap ton of those.

    But...that’s how it’s always been.

When did the thinking shift? Like...it should be common knowledge that when putting a Tacoma against another vehicle as far as speed is concerned..it’s almost certainly destined to be at the bottom of the speed list. So it was written so it was in practice and so it will ever be. I don’t get the disappointment. It’s like being disappointed that your pencil can’t pen. No shit it can’t pen. It’s a pencil. Why would you be disappointed in the pencil for not being able to pen. It’s not fair. And it’s dumb.

Just because every human being is capable of having original thoughts doesn’t mean they are actually capable of expressing them.

I believe it’s probably fear that causes most people to suppress what they really think and just parrot whatever caca is repeated the most in order to blend in.

I heard that utility vehicles are cool, and cool things are fast...

    Makes perfect sense...lol

My 1990 mazda b2200 had 85 horsepers and i believe 115 torque, and it got around just fine. 278 hp for midsize is pretty adequate i would say. I guess its a lot of younger/millenial folks buying tacomas and getting kind of dissapointed, when comparing them to all the other brands. But taco was never fast, like stun gun said. Toyota has always been very conservative.

Edit: i do fall in the millenial category though, but i have an old soul. Had a lot of people tell me that, haha!

I wonder about this also. Not really sure but some reasons for the “utility vehicle” disconnect might be...

    First time truck owners?

People looking for any reason to complain because they are trying to compensate for low self esteem?

People who read other people’s complaints and convince themselves that they are experiencing the same thing?

People who were swayed by marketing to believe that some possession would improve their lives only to be disappointed because real life doesn’t work that way?

And the Tacomaworld factor...before the first 3rd gen rolled off the factory floor there were a core group of “cool kids” here looking for any excuse to hate this truck. Bringing this idea back full circle to our OP- I saw @smitty99 as an unwitting dupe of the haters. He got played and once his usefulness diminished he was kicked to the curb.

I think he might have actually figured this out and is back in as a toned down version of the original.

Whatever. There is no perfect vehicle under the sun but this little truck of mine does everything I need it to do. If it didn’t I am almost certain I would trade it in for something else and not endlessly whine about it on some stupid forum...lol
