So I have always had the dealer do my oil changes cause it wasn't worth the time for the money saved, but think I'm going to go it on my own this time. Anyone use this?? ;)

So the yellow fog lights in stock housings just were not cutting it. The lenses were cloudy, and they just didn't put out any light at all.

    IMG_8093.jpg

I was going to throw some LED pods in there for now similiar to what is on the top of the bumper when I ran across these:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GDZY21I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_bOtx4ac4EiNpk

They looked sort of cool and different so I thought what the hell.

I tied the halos into the parking lights to act as daytime running lights.

    IMG_8095.jpg

And the main light into the existing wiring

    IMG_8094.jpg

    IMG_8097.jpg

I did something to the passenger parking light which won't work now. It worked when I tapped into it so maybe it's because I touched the bulb? That will be a project for another day. It can't ever be easy now can it?

I'll have to wait till tonight to see what the light output is like and aim them, but to the eye in daylight they seemed to be pretty bright.

Yeah it's a bummer but that's what happens sometimes when you buy cheap shit! I really liked the look, but they all seem to be pretty much the same and I don't feel like messing with it anymore. Probably just some basic LED pods till something else catches my eye

Replaced that garbage with some 4" round LED pods. Once I find something else these will become bed lights or extra backup lights or go on Molly's power wheels.

    IMG_8160.jpg IMG_8159.jpg

Also replaced my burned out parking lights with LEDs. That only leaves the turn signals, plate lights and tail lights with halogens

Molly and i decided this would be a worthwhile mod to the house given all of the "statements" that people feel they need to make lately.

Installed some RDJ fender flares today. Been wanting a pocket style flare for a while now, really like how they change the look of the truck.

RDJ Trucks Pocket & Bolt Fender Flares - Toyota Tacoma 2005-2011 6' Long Bed - Set of 4 - Textured Black Finish https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YCVT01I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_zYx3zbK1QZJ3P

I knew I wouldn’t be painting them, so I went with the textured finish. When they first arrived I was a little hesitant when I saw the finish. It looked a little to coarse if that makes sense, like a raisin almost?? :notsure:

I almost sent them back, but decided to roll with it.

    First out with the old.

    7A1D5D58-1F34-4973-802C-5CFD3EFC9739.jpg

Lots of sediment had managed to work under the stock fenders, not surprising. I pulled the old tabs and cleaned them up. Gave a nice coat of wax underneath to add a little extra protection.

    15F2CF87-22B4-457F-AEE9-8E683700C056.jpg

And in with the new. Install was pretty easy. The only difficult part was lining up the 2 added machine screws on tabs that clip onto the bottom side of the fenders. This is really the only thing holding the front of the fender on since I don’t have a stock bumper to use the pieces that would go onto that portion. I wish the new fenders used at least a few of the original mounting tabs on the face of the fender for extra security, but I imagine that would be a lot of extra fine tunning on the product, so I get it. I have seen a lot of guys using the bolts that are just for show to actually secure to the fender, and I might do the same thing in the future. At least on the front side. They aren’t going anywhere for now.

    02055173-8EE3-4AC8-B4EC-D04885DFDC3D.jpg

Back was simple, plug and play.

After seeing them mounted I definitely like the look, so happy I went that route.

That looks sweet! I like that textured finish too. Might have to get a set of these for P's 4 runner. Her paint is all faded on the stock set. how much further do they stick out over stock?

I’ll get some detailed pics from the side here in a bit, but I would say about an 3/4-1 1/4 inches I didn’t realize how much mine were faded either until I took mine off.

Better yet, you should check them out in person for some snow bashing or at least a few beers soon. Been far to long my friend...

Dipped the rims on the Runner today. Was going to pick up a set of black TRD 6 spokes, but decided to try something different since everyone seems to have black rims these days. Went with anthracite grey with a glossifier. Very happy wirh the results. I see some grey SCS 6’s in our future once this girl is lifted!!

    Before.

    After

    B86FBC24-83E7-4D43-8958-376115EA3C60.jpg

I’ll have to get a better pic in the sun. That one doesn’t do it justice

I have usually just used index or playing cards when painting rims in the past, but it was windy so I used some tape as well. I know a lot of guys just spray the plastidip and rub the overspray off of the tires, but l just like to spray em, pull the tape and be done with it.

    BD27442D-C905-420F-9070-288A400564D4.jpg

I somehow didn’t get a pic of the prep work. Was just to concentrated on the job I guess. Like any painting job, prep is 90% of the Work. I taped around the edge then added the cards to keep over spray off of the tires. Worked like a champ. I did one side at a time and sprayed pretty much continuously between the 2 rims and center caps. Hit with the gloss after about a 5 min wait, worked beautifully.

Had some time while waiting to put the tires back on so i took care of the chrome decals. You know what they say about plasti dip.... it’s like meth, Not even once...

Very happy with the results. Wifey agrees, the front and rear silver facia is next.
