I think it’s time to trim my fenders, possibly the rear fenders too. Running new 33”, did the pinch weld mod but looks like if I do any off roading the tires will rub part of the fenders. Any tips, tools, or how much I should trim off?

Does anyone have detail photos of the 1st gen Tacoma with trimmed fenders for reference?

    Thanks!

    Good looking rig.

I am going to have to trim also. I went with 285/75/16 with 4.5 BS and I rub the frame. Im waiting on some wheel spacers then I will start cutting. I bought some bushwhackers so hopefully they will cover any mistakes I make.

I have 4.3 BS and SPC UCA so no frame rubbing. The back of my front inside area of the fender by the pinch weld is close to rubbing so I know it will hit when I’m on the trails. Wondering if I could just trim that back area only.

How much did those aftermarket fenders cost you? I thought about getting those if I was to cut my whole fender.

I dont remember hos much. It was a few months ago when I found them on Amazon warehouse deal. It has specific instruction to cut out the back of the front fender and some of the back fender.
I have the SPC UCA also. Mine is rubbing when I try to park, I know it will rub when Im on the trail.
Im hopping I wont have to cut a lot. I have so many parts sitting around waiting to be installed.

Looks good. Did you take about 1-2” off all the way around using an angle grinder? Also do you know what your UCA caster settings are?

I don’t know my caster settings. But yeah that’s how much I took off.

I might put them up for sale once I get around to doing it :) I need to get my SPC UCA caster aligned first to see how much and where I need to cut. Mostly by this week. I’m thinking of having them max it out at 4 if they can get everything else aligned to stock or close to it.

Just take the flares off. If your running 33's, eventually you're going to stuff the rear tires good and it's just gonna rip em off anyway.

You’re probably right and I have already considered it. I just don’t care for having the fenders holes out. More noticeable on my truck because it’s a light color.

Did you trim your fender too or just the pinch weld area?

Good looking double cab by the way. That AllPro Baja bumper was my first choice but they didn’t have it in stock when I was ordering so I went with their apex.

@Uphillshunter this is how the Baja bumper would look on your truck :)

    Thank you.
No trimming of the fenders. Just a hammer on the pinch Weld

Ya, I like th as t bumper. I talked to Matt today, he's going to see if they are available right now.

This is an even better idea of what it would look like.

Yes no doubt. I just don’t want to do more damage than necessary:) This being my hobby truck makes it easy to do “no return” mobs.

You're likely going to have to do a wee bit of grinding on the lower ears. Most of us that run that bumper have to mod the ears a bit unless they fixed that issue.

True that, but I like @Matic example because it’s all decked out with winch and lights, no rust either :)

I’m sure Matt will take care of Matt :)

I had to cut off a part of the bumper reinforcement tabs to fit my apex. Sounds serious but it’s really not a big deal.
