so i took my 2019 TRD off-road 4x4 to cape lookout national seashore.

had a good time besides the idiot who leaned on my brand new truck and wanted to fight me after i asked him to please get off my new truck...

anyhow, i drove about 60 miles on the sand in 2 days. it did amazing. is like a tank.

    things i know:

    aired down to 20 psi
run in 4hi in drive with vsc button pushed which disabled trac.

    things i learned:
with the vsc button pushed the abs stuff will still kick in. to get rid of all that and then to be able to rooster tail, you must press and HOLD that vsc button for 3 seconds. then trac/vsc is turned off.

I was able to drive the dune road at the speed limit of 25mph quite comfortably as opposed to my xterra that was like a bucking bronco at 15mph due to the shorter wheelbase i suppose?

i hit somemogul type areas on one part of the road and the taco jsut took it. was fantastic. I have 2 videos and will try uploading them.

Going to Cape Lookout Natl Seashore tomorrow. Have a TRD OR. Would 4Low work for packed sand or should I just keep it in 4Hi? Is 4Hi only needed for the less traveled deep sand on the dune side?

I used 4hi all the time and she was a beast. I don't recall if I turned off traction control or not. Probably in this thread somewhere. I didn't touch 4lo. Air down to 18psi. She was a tank.

Yep. I disabled the vsc totally. 4hi everywhere. Along ocean. In deep sand. In packed. On the dune road. I took it out of 4x4 on the concrete at the coast guard life saving station to avoid driveline binding.

In the sand you can push it down to 10-15 psi without much worry...
