The last four or five posts by fellow members all sound great. I have been looking at many of those places. I think I may be out voted on where we are going. Kids want to go over the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel and down to myrtle beach. They want to see the big gray boats, Norfolk. Which is fine by me. My father was stationed in Norfolk for a few years. I guess I can teach them about the family military heratige instead. On a side note I was at Camp Edwards on the cape next to the coast guard base up there. Best chow hall or dining facility I ever ate in. Only place I had lobster for free in a military dining facility. And they can cook. did some exploring up there had a good time think it was May, cause I missed my anniversary like usual. Thanks again for the ideas.

If you end up there let me know. I'll let you know where all the trails are. Some really sick stuff and lots of variety.

X2 on placid, also highland is incredible, they have top of the line rental gear as well.

NH- Lincoln is a pretty cool place in the summer. Check out clarks trading post, they have a bear show, also loon has ziplining. Head north from there up an exit to cannon and take a ride on ketchup or mustard(the trams) 93 is just an awesome highway view wise. I have traveled the northeast a ton, not many roads can compare to the scenery you get. Just go get lost in the mountains, drive the KANC too, great scenerary there.

In Southern NY I would check out west point, definitely take a guided tour if you can, they show you really neat stuff you otherwise wouldn't know or see. Shawangunks, "gunks" If you are into climbing bring your gear, its top notch, you can also ride your bikes or hike the trails. Saranac lake, Placid, Lake george, Rochester, Scroon Lake!

If you head west in NY you can go checkout the Baseball hall of fame in cooperstown, not too much else out that way besides buffalo corn and cows..

RI- Providence, some great places to eat definitely. Newport, Poor Judgement awesome place, tons of craft brews.

Mass- Cape cod, head out to truro, hit head of the meadow beach, one of the nicest ones out there, Definitely take your kids to provincetown, its an unforgettable experience, so many sights to see.

VT- Drawing a blank.... Rutland, not much history there, neat place though

Maine- Freeport, LL bean headquarters, super cool place to go visit.

    Acadia national park(bar harbor)
    Baxter state park
Kittery (Maine but not really lol)
Old orchard beach (crazy busy in the summer)
    Rangeley lake state park
Sebago Lake area(my back yard. Very busy in summer and we don't really like tourists. Lol)
    Boothbay harbor
Freeport for ll bean. And maine brewing company.
    Katahdin
There are forts in portland and some cool islands you cat take a ferry to
I go to jackman a lot. Lots of dirt roads. Old logging roads. Ponds campgrounds and a lot less people. Small town.

There are plenty more places in Maine but these are a few.

You should have quoted my post :hint:

I actually agree, DC is amazing and you could easily spend 3 full days at just the museums

Yes change of plans wife and kids want to go to myrtle beach, north will be another year. So it will be a long way over the Chesapeake bay bridge. And found a cool atv park to rent atv's. Kids will enjoy that. I appreciate all the ideas TY everyone. Knew I could count on members from the northern states.
