Tacoma finished November sales strong and look like it will finish with one of its best years in a while according to this article !!!

While the Tacoma has outsold the other mid size. Nissan has enjoyed a 41.5% ytd increase. Tacoma only 7.2% ytd over last year.

Not bad for Nissan's old design.

Yes, Tacoma is still the sales leader but the increase in sales compared to last year is the lowest of all the mid-sized competitors.

    Frontier +41.5% YTD vs 2015
    Colorado +29.8% YTD vs 2015
    Canyon +23.4% YTD vs 2015
    Tacoma + 7.2% YTD vs 2015

Honda Ridgeline +3,680% vs 2015 (but not really a valid stat since they did not sell new models in 2015)

Not sure how much you can extrapolate for the future based on those mid - sized stats (trends have been showing similar sales increase #'s for each of the above manufacturers month after month) but I'm guessing in a 1-2 years there might be a few big players in the mid sized market and Toyota won't have such a disparity in sales numbers over their competitors.

Not saying one make/model is better or worst - just talking about the #'s in the future.

I'm not. I have been looking at the Pro 4x. While it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the Tacoma has, it is not a bad interior. Adjustable seat height, back seat in crew cab folds up to provide access to the floor or flat like the Tacoma. It is a bit smaller in width and length, but I like the smaller truck. imo, Nissan 10+ year old design Frontier offers more bang for the buck than Tacoma. Nissan is currently thousands cheaper than a comparable Tacoma or GMC mid size.

Not getting those discounts in my area...LA-"Lower Alabama". Our trucks all come from SET and they always add something to the vehicle. Mine came with tinted windows and some form of paint protection on the front end (hood, mirrors, grill area, etc.). Thought that was a "screw job" until I came home from the beach one weekend with a million love bugs splattered all over the front. They came off easy with just a hose spray.

Percentages can be deceiving. If your base is small then any increase will be significant. Example: If a small dealer sold 60 vehicles in one month and sold 75 the next month he had an increase in sales of 25%. But if a large dealer sold 300 vehicles in one month and sold 350 vehicles the next month his increase in sales was only 17% even though he sold 35 more vehicles than the smaller dealer. We been getting this s*** from the current administration in Washington for the last 8 years (and probably many years before that).

Up in Canada there has not been one manufacturer discount/rebate/incentive since the 3rd Gen game out well over a year ago. I check every month - not one has shown up.

But Nissan quality always comes in at the bottom on every survey, big time. You get what you pay for.
    I don't even think Nissan when I think cars/trucks.

I used what the OP posted. Yes percentages can be deceiving. Considering the source came from a Toyota source, I doubt they would publish much showing them not doing well.

JD Powers disagrees with you. "The 2016 Nissan Frontier has been recognized as the top mid-size truck in the J.D. Power 2016 Initial Quality Study (IQS), the industry benchmark for new vehicle quality",

I don't think of Toyota when considering full size pick ups. To each their own.

    http://nissannews.com/en-US/nissan/...ction-awards-maxima-murano-rogue-and-frontier

I liked my 06 Tacoma. Just not thrilled with the 3G. While TW is more active that the main Frontier site, there is a whole lot less complaining regarding the Frontier (2011+), than I see here about the 3G Tacoma. Yes, resale is high for a Tacoma. Partly based on past reputation. Time will tell if the 3G will hold the same.

"Initial" is the key word here.
Lets look at the 'Long term" track record. Or maybe we shouldn't.
So we are to believe after decades they get it right in 2016 ? Not biting.

We can look at the long term record. Never heard of a frame rot recall on the current designed Frontier. Seems there was on the 2G Tacoma. Haven't heard much of sagging rear leaf springs with a recall to replace them on the Frontier. Yes, Nissan did have a issue with transmission radiator cross contamination (2005-2009). Seems Nissan changed the design and has not had an issue since.

We can't look at the long term track record of the 3G Tacoma, it doesn't have enough years yet.
If you want to believe the Tacoma is the best mid size truck, go for it. I gave my opinion, many will disagree.

Frontier #1 in reliability, Tacoma last place. Truthfully, it saddens me to point that out.

With the JD Powers survey and the one for CR - guess that negates your argument.

I'm yet to see a survey showing the 3rd Gen Tacoma being first in quality...

Oh consumer reports, the one that liked the ridgeline car, LOL !
Initial bs like howling holes and tsb trannys that were fixed went into the cs report. Worthless.
Forget these initial bs reports. Long term Toyota has and always will win.

Participating in a mid size truck (Toyota) forum.
Was responding to your comment of "I don't even think Nissan when I think cars/trucks." by stating I don't think of Toyota for full size trucks
Are you trying to convince me of something?

I realize Toyota Tacoma has a big following. Much like most brands of vehicle do. Chevy people love Chevy. Dodge and Ford have their fans.
    To each their own.

You asked why I am here. I participate on a Nissan, Chevy, Honda as well as TW to gather information regarding my future purchase of a "midsize" pickup. Guess you would have been happier if I stated the new 3G Tacoma is the best in the world and all other midsize trucks are junk. I see the pros and cons in the Tacoma. As well as I see the pro/con with the Nissan or GMC/Chevy twins. So far the Tacoma is my second choice. Yes, I have test drove the 3G more than once.

Must have hit a nerve with you. So we can quit now. Funny how you can know what I read or don't read regarding vehicle.
So if I have not gathered info then how would I have known about the frame issues, etc.?

    Have a good one.
