    Turning Less shitty.

Was just informed that Toyota is coming out with a support program for 05-08 tacomas with frame issues.

I now have to pay $0!! and anyone else with this issue moving forward will have to pay $0.

Went to check on my frame order- been 4 weeks or so, service manager said as of today the $1000 deductible is waived by Toyota:D:D No recall or TSB yet but they are dealing with the frames with different rules. Also basically said depending on if your truck has been seviced somewhat frequently at a Toyota dealership, they may give you a loaner free. Mine has been there a few times for small things but only twice in the 7 years ive owned mine. Was so happy to the $1000 news!!!

My dealership gave me a free loaner for the day a couple weeks ago. Last fall I hit a deer and got a free loaner for a week. I DO NOT have a loaner rider on my insurance.

If you're truck is going to sit there for however long. You shouldn't have to make your truck payment either, that should be covered by Toyota. So technically you're not paying for anything, even the rental but you're still have to make your payments when you have no access to your truck.

Time will tell. I'm running a 2013 and it is good so far with 3K miles on it.

Nissan Xterra had a quarter sized advanced rust spot mid door at 34 miles. Nissan tried to blame me for the rust. In the end I'm thankful they scrapped it, writing a check so I could get the Tacoma.

It wouldn't work. Any airflow in the boxed frame is better than being sealed.

There are too many weep holes to patch up for your idea to work, and Schrader valves work on holding pressure, not a vacuum.

It's NOT a recall. It's NOT a TSB. That's why you cant find anything on it. I asked my service manager on Friday 5/9 if this was the case. He said NO. They are just taking care of rusty frames that are perforated. Yes, probably only the years stated, but nothing official (YET)

So let me get this straight. You have to have your frame inspected on a yearly basis? This should tell people something right there. In California the only checks we have are smog...

OP i'd look into getting the frame coated while it is off the truck, before they install anything. You could do a base coat of por15 or chasis saver, then topcoat it with monstaliner, or even linex it. Just ake sure who ever does it gets inside the box.

It is a recall( more like an SPA, if you will )that is the same as the 2001-2004 frame replacement. They extended that from 2005 up to production date of April 2008.

How close to a full recall do you think? I just had mine in for the spiral cable and they were very reluctant to do a frame inspection. Wanted to charge me $125/hr. So I crawled under there myself. The frame looked amazingly good. Tow receiver and rear bumper were not so good.

Financially a recall for Toyota on all Tacoma frames would be devastating, so I do not think we will ever see one. Logistics would be a nightmare swapping out all frames. From a public relations stand point it would be positive.

I could see Toyota doing it on a case by case basis. Your argument for swapping it out does not carry much weight if for cosmetic reasons, however mention safety of operation and the situation changes.

This is a truck and has certain expectations such as the capability to carry a load safely. A rusted frame is no longer capable of handling the same load.
    This Toyota has frame issues

Pickup trucks rely on the frame for strength same as convertibles. Take the 914 for example. [IMG]
I've seen the 914 on a lift with the drivers seat up in the air with both bumpers flat on the ground.

Is there any way you could get more info?

I'm wondering if they will be dicks about it and make you jump through tons of hoops or say you had to get an inspection done previously etc. etc.

I have had my car serviced at Toyota a couple of times and they have done their "inspection" during oil changes. It always comes back as safe, but the frame is quite rusty with a bad hole at the motor mount location.

Also, is there "buzz" works you can mention that might make them more inclined to replace the frame. For example, I am (legitimately, mind you) worried about towing with my rusty frame. Not lying of course, but making them realize you aren't just wanting a freebie.
