just what I need to do what I want
I drove this 12/23/15-Found a dirt road from Apple Valley to Holcomb Valley in Big Bear. (youtube " Apple Valley to Fawnskin") This road starts out as Coxey Rd, becomes BLM 3155?, and eventually 3N14 which leads past Big Pine Flats campground and in to Fawnskin. I took a left at a sign that says Holcomb Valley 6 miles. Nice easy dirt road, then it started raining, went to 4Hi. Then as we got more altitude we ran into sections of ice, mostly in the shadow of a hill or under some trees-4WD was a must as I just spun the wheels and drifted all over with out it. Holcomb had a lot more snow but as it was 44*F and the snow was melting-sloppy snow/mud driving. Went out thru Polique canyon rd and in to town to walk around and eat. Daves tavern , where we ate, has the best burgers.image1.jpgimage3.jpg image2.jpg

very awesome! I live near palm springs on the south side of big bear. we have a similar run from pioneer town/yucca valley to big bear. we also have the berdoo canyon run from indio hills up to said pioneer town. you could literally spend 7 hours off roading from the coachella valley to big bear.

the roads are labeled on a easy to hard scale. this is the harder path. girlfriend for scale...........

here's some pics form the berdoo canyon run. it starts off in one of the valleys going up the mountain. then completely opens up to the joshua tree national park. all i have to say is..... Yuccas.... Yuccas everywhere!!
