Speaking of Germans, and other vehicles while we're at it, in my family we have had problems with: fords, rams, bmws and range rovers. The only ones that we havent had any sort of mechanical/electrical problems are my little brothers mercedes "side chick" and my "Chinese truck that no one really trusted to be good until I got it and its proving itself." My moms rover had to have the computer replaced, same with my sisters x5, my dad has had a lariat which had a horrible turning radius and was shitty over all, he now has a single cab ram 1500 that has been in the shop 3 times already for the same sensor problem. This time he dropped it off on Thursday and still hasn't gotten it back. My Jetta wouldn't even pick up past 30mph at the end (I cant blame the manufacturer because well I crashed it like 4 times, but still) thank the Lord for that VW buy back ordeal other wise I would not have been able to sell it for the $17K I got from VW for it.

He said something about getting a decal made of it to cover is hood. Just so they could gaze into each other’s eyes on long trips.

Wow, I let this thread fester for a few days to see what would happen, and I gotta tell ya, it did_not_dissapoint.

I’m most impressed with the sheer number of speculative personal attacks rather than considering that hey, maybe this guy’s got some fair points. There were a few open minders, but what are most of you gonna do against $40k of invested decision bias, amiright?

So, post Tacoma test drive disappointment, I drove a new Ford F-250 super cab. Odd to cross shop, but my 20 year old one has served well, and it was worth my time to give it a shot.

What really blew my mind, was that it drove really, really well, had a turning radius on par with the double cab Tacoma, bigger/higher/wider rear seat, 6.75’ bed, and from what I’ve read on this board, gets close enough fuel economy that it doesn’t matter to me.

On top of that, you get two massive solid axles, a V8 with almost 400 hp, a thick frame that won’t rust through, and the ability to either run 35’s down the road with no lift or body butchery, or 37’s with much cheaper suspension lifts. I can also get it with deeper gears, an e-locker, and a friggin modern infotainment system with CarPlay. Back when I used to build jeeps, I’d kill for a hardware spec sheet like that.

The kicker is that the dealer is actually willing to, you know.... ‘deal’, and it’s working out to be cheaper than what the Toyota dealer was willing to do for me.

Haters will argue ford reliability, but the 6.2 and the 6 speed automatic are regarded as rock solid everywhere I looked, and I don’t know anyone who’s gonna argue against a Dana 60 solid axle.

So peace out, enjoy your Camry powered trucks with the useless bed, the pogo stick suspension and the box-o-rocks transmission.

I'd hope so. It IS a FULL size truck after all.

2 words: Resale value. Of course Ford/GM/Dodge slash the prices and Toyota does not. There is a reason.

It's really easy to make "deals" when you mark your vehicles up 30% to begin with. So they mark it down in front of you %20, then it drops another 20% in resale value the minute you drive it out their front gate.
