Trouble mounting tonneau cover

I was going to buy one used near me for my 2020 TRD OR that came off a 2016. The mounting points seem off, so I didn’t get it but said if I could figure out I would.


Did something change in the bed between these years that would prevent it it from working on a 2020?

I believe they’re the same.
The OEM bed covers come with their own hardware/bed rails. So the person you’re buying from would have to swap bed rails with you or see if you can buy that stuff from the dealer. Since your truck didn’t come from the factory with a cover, your bed rails don’t have the cutouts for where the cover mounts. That’s why you have to swap with the person you’re buying from.

 

Ok this makes a lot of sense. One of the items he said was the bed had mounting points on top of the bed as well where it mounted, I wonder if that would mean including the Bed liner being different.

 

I did a swap with someone who no longer wanted the OEM cover. We both had to switch the plastic rails and the center had a mount that needed to go over as well.
