Trouble with remote connect 2021

    Bought my first Toyota on Friday, a 2021 TRD Off-Road. Salesman helped me setup the app on my phone, but when we got to the point where it talks about the Communications App, it wasn't there. Called the Toyota 800 number on Monday morning. They told me they would flash the unit. By the time I got home from work, remote services was working. I have to hand it to them their support person was top notch.

    Just took delivery of my 2021 trd off road and I’m going through the same thing. No connections app on the head unit. Will try all the things suggested here.

    Have you downloaded the app on your phone? What are you trying to access on the HU?

    There’s supposed to be a connection app on the radio where you type in the number they email you to activate the remote connect.

    Remote connect for your phone? I have the toyota app on my phone and can start, lock, unlock, locate my vehicle etc with the app. Is there another app to get on the HU?

    The instructions on the phone app tell you to go to the apps screen on the radio to activate the remote services.

    So y'all can't use the phone app correct? There isn't additional app features from the head unit? Sorry haven't had my truck long, just making sure I'm taking advantage of any tech features. Thanks

    I can’t use the app on my phone because it won’t connect to the truck. Yours seems to be working fine.

    Ah I see. Thanks for response. I got an email a few days after owning the truck and just followed the prompts. Good luck getting yours working. I did everything from my phone, don't remember entering any code on the HU itself. Do wish remote start didn't shut off on unlock though. Last few vehicles non push button didn't turn off.

    I never did get the app on the truck itself. The Toyota rep did a remote refresh and after work ( a couple hours later) I was able to connect to the vehicle without the app showing up on the truck. Make sure you have your VIN when you call in. I was able to remote start the truck before this by using the remote and the “push lock three tines holding for a few seconds on the third push” method. Here’s the number to call to get support:

    “If you are experiencing any concerns or have any further questions, please contact us at 800-331-4331. Our hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CT Monday through Friday and 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT Saturday.”

    Thanks for the info! I will try this when I get off work today. Mine will also start with the key fob, so I guess I just need to call and get them to connect it.

    Called the 800 number and she activated it from there. Took maybe 5 min. Now all is well.

    This happened to me to on my 2021 TRD OR, called up the customer service line and they fixed it while I was on the phone. They acknowledged there is a known issue with this and the new vehicles, still working on the root cause.

    Same issue here with no “Communications” app showing up on the truck screen. Mashed the SOS button and told them about it and the rep had me sign out and sign back into the phone app. After I did that, it shows “activation pending” and they said wait a day and it should be working. We shall see.

    So weird they do the code via email and say all these instructions that are wrong lol

    I didn't have to do anything on the head unit to get the remote connect to work on our 2021 OR.

    Picked up my 2021 TRD OF on Tuesday, same issues with pairing the app with the truck, pushed the SOS on the truck and the operator took care of it. Now I have access to all the features on the app. I literally just did it 30 minutes ago.
