Most of the loud squeak noise comes from the bushing when it's not properly installed. Torquing the spring bushing pivot bolts to specs with the full normal load after a few bounces should take care of any noise issue with the bushings.

    Cheers!

my truck has not been starting on some occasions. the starter will click but the engine won't turn on. usually on the 2nd attempt it will start but it's kind of sh1tty that a bran new truck won't start on the first attempt.

I am not sure of the sputtering, but if you were pushing the gas pedal down, and nothing was changing, there is an engine management problem that Toyota would want to analyze. It seems like a shifting dwell (rpm dwell while awaiting an confirmation of an automatic transmission's next gear engagement). This technique is used to lighten the load on engagement clutches, in automatic transmission, or to cover up, in software, a shift flare (due to low transmission accumulator pressures; engaging the next gear to slowly). Toyota engineers will definitely want to analyze your vehicle for continuous improvement. You may want to get them in the loop as they are working out some rpm dwell issues in the engine management as we speak, and they are preparing a new software revision.

Ummmm....wow. Actually I called yesterday and the Toyo tech had not made it out yet but expected him today. I was wondering why they wouldn't say "Not an issue" and have me pick up the truck, but since they have put me off for two days there must be something there. I'll be sure to ask about "shift dwell" when I pick it up (today if they let me). Thanks Brad!

Yeah, Toyota Engineering will be all over that one. It's good that they have your truck to learn with. Engine management is very complicated now. Unfortunately, we will be guinea pigs to some small degree. This is a global product development problem.... not Toyota's exclusively. Toyota is actually pretty good at solving problems when they engage. Don't expect a lot of communication though. Toyota does not want people (and lawyers) to know about their shortcomings (hint: drive by wire unintended acceleration). Good luck, and keep us in the loop.

The unintended acceleration was proven to be a few cases of the pedal hanging up on improperly installed floor mats, but mostly people hitting the gas, instead of the brake.

Soooo picked up the truck this afternoon, after multiple drivers whom couldn't replicate and the Toyo tech who didn't show up and they held my truck for two days....it "runs absolutely as it should...as designed". Hmmmm, well I don't believe you Mr. Service tech but since you didn't charge me anything for not finding anything wrong I'll allow it. I plan on getting my GoPro to mount and track the RPM's for their benefit, will track when it happens again. I also asked if the Tech was to come up and they wanted my truck again they can contact me and I'll bring it in. I have a feeling this is not over....

Your statement is not 100% untrue. There have been cases where a floor matt held the pedal down. However, there was another big problem that showed up with T's drive by wire system. From that point on, the floor matt claim became a red herring. Check out the article below. Start reading at about November 29, 2009. Be sure to read past December 26, 2009. Remember, big T. Knows how to do damage control, and a lot of hush money can keep unethical people silent or throwing red herrings.
