Was wanting opinions on getting a tool box vs a trunk like in the photo? The trunk would probably fit more of my stuff and I could secure and lock it, but wouldn’t be as secure as toolbox, someone could always spend some time to get it out of determined enough.

Does anyone else use a trunk they would recommend? Got a toolbox picked out if I go that rout. Or anyone tried both and got any opinions.

On my last work truck I had a cross bed box. It was filled with frequently used smaller and lighter tools. I had gone from a long bed with side boxes to a short bed. I list a lit of box space.

I ended up with one of these boxes for large heavy tools. I t worked well but had two issues. First it ate up all of the bed space. Second, it was so heavy I ended up needing a hitch lift to get it off the truck.

Because the box has so much room you will likely use it and like me create one heavy SOB.

Thanks for answering. I’m not gonna be putting much heavy stuff in it so not too worried about weight, and I like the portability of it.

It didn’t stick up too high in the bad licking funky did it? As of now this is my first option mainly due to storage space and portability. I can easily remove it and use the entire bed for camping

It came up about even with the toolbox. But it was a work truck so looks didn’t matter.

I forgot to mention, this was a short bed Tundra. It fit between the wheel wells. Not sure if it would in a Tacoma.

I'm a fan of the Contico bins. Simple, inexpensive, a variety of sizes and shapes, and damn near bulletproof.

From experience, don't get wheeled bins if you're going to load them with heavy stuff. Bent wheels are more difficult/anger inducing than no wheels.

The Dewalt Tool Boxes fit perfect in between the bed of the truck.

Well, I purchased the dewalt tool chest and it’s a really nice fit and looks just fine in the back. Think I’m gonna like the ability to take it in and out and the all around versatility.

    Thanks for everyone’s advice.

Oh you will like it, and you WILL fill it so it’s so heavy and hard to lift out. FYI on my box, I bought a wire cable lock. I use the one with loops and use a pad lock, and loop it through one of the front metal tie down points
