I just bought an 03 PreRunner extended cab, just wondering what everyone thinks about UWS or BetterBuilt boxes or any others. Also, maybe I am just an idiot, but my dimensions do not match any of the ones on the box websites. Any ideas?

UWS is the best. It is a little more money than the rest but it is worth it. I bought a kobalt(had a defective weld, returned), then a betterbuilt(wrong size, returned -$100 shipping ouch) , finally got my UWS and have had no problems. Whatever you do make SURE you get the right size, return shipping is 2-3 times as much as it costs for them to ship to you

    I think you're looking for a 60" box. 2nd gens take a 63" and yours is smaller

I got my J hooks from Lowes (you may want to check your local hardware store.) Make sure you get a nut and washer for each J hook. If your box is predrilled, just attach it to the bedrail, through the hole, and tighten it all up. If not, you have to drill the holes and then attach it. Mine took a good bit of work to get just right, be patient with it and it'll be worth it.

OP - I have a black UWS. Got it Sunday, so not tested out much, but it looks great and holds everything I need it to (and more!) :D

Thanks for the help, not sure what you mean on how to install in the side bed rails and what size j hook.

The bottom of the J hook is curved. The top is where the nut fits on it. You have to rig it in the bedrail (the curved end) where it will essentially lock into place. I'm not sure the exact size of the J hooks I used. There's a link to a better explanation. I'll try to find it for you.

    EDIT: See post #11 http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=250394&highlight=uws+box

Have a UWS that I floor-mounted behind the cab, but needed a bigger box so got one from Home Depot. Had to special order one because the store had only one size, but you might look into it. Tradesman brand. So far, so good.
