I was only making like $12 per hour as roadside assistance/battery truck driver about 5 years ago. Just remember the driver works for the shop, not AAA.

depends on what AAA coverage you buy if you get the AAA Plus you get 100 miles towing the regular AAA is about 5 miles I think if it exceeds 5 miles its at owners expense. I have towing thru my regular car insurance its also a 5 mile radius. I got a discount this year $102 for the AAA plus well worth it with a truck that has over 100k miles.

Yeah everyone was underpaid and overworked. The battery truck drivers were treated like shit if they didn’t sell/replace 3 batteries a day, the tow drivers were told to skip lunch if they were running late to calls.

Also when I was supposed to be getting “trained” my guy just sat in the truck on his phone and said go figure it out as I’m breaking into someone’s car while they are watching.... (I’m good at it now ;))

my brother avoids all this AAA coverage ripoffs he calls me when one of his piece of crap cars breaks down for a free tow, I have the AAA Plus. I told him this year either pay half the coverage and he gets his own card or don't call me for anymore freebies. but he's too cheap

they told me FREE battery with the Premier coverage, and also said that if my old Battery took a dump just by getting a new free Interstate battery would offset the Premier coverage cost

That must be real new..cause when people would ask for a free battery I would give them a d cell from my flashlight and tell them here you go, only free battery I can give you..lol. hell, I had to pay cost if I needed a battery.and I had to use a call if I wanted the warranty

OP I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience.
I've worked for the Auto Club for 8+ years now, the first half of it was in/around the roadside assistance department (taking your tow call, taking your post-tow complaint, contract station relations, etc). 1 very very important thing that most people don't know/understand is that AAA is a franchise. There are regional motor clubs that buy into the AAA brand. Up in San Fran it's CSAA (Cal State Auto Assoc). So Cal (below Fresno) is Automobile Club of So Cal. The club I work for owns/operates 15 states currently, all with somewhat different perks & guidelines. On an international forum like this it's pointless to compare benefits since it likely isn't the same across state lines. Modified vehicles are frequently denied service out of safety for all parties involved, it's not worth risking damage to a 500k flatbed when a spacer lift takes a shit being winched up.

That's exactly what the 1st step is. The agreement with the contractor says they are given right of 1st refusal to the damage complaint. If they fail to resolve it, then we will do what we can, within reason.

Lol I've taken many a call about the truck operator being drunk &/or high (with arrest reports to confirm). They're not all saints.

    That’s exactly what they said

They give contract company the opportunity to make it right before they step in.

Oh not all drivers are worth a crap. I've pulled guys out of there trucks for being under the influence. And I made damn sure the owner knew. Fired on the spot and I towed they're truck back to the yard.but at the same time when 3a gives anyone off the street a free tow cause they're drunk, I'm at risk. I'm in the truck with them, not the dispatcher or regional rep. I've had members want to fight and everything else..but we can discuss that at another time. I've seen some things over 22 years in a truck.

    Like, so many.
Are you serious? Every vehicle I've owned has modded to some degree.
