I would try to get a new OEM CV and then replace the boots on the original for a trail spare!

Knowing few tow truck drivers that got screwed by either damaging the vehicle or being blamed for damaging a vehicle. They decide if they feel comfortable with the tow or they make you sign a waiver. When 4runner ball joint failed the first thing he did was take pictures of all sides. Then asked me to sign waiver or no tow. It was a weekend and late in evening costing me $140 cash. He was going to lose $140 if I didnt sign and waste his Sunday afternoon.

Again this mostly affects lowered vehicles. One driver bent my FMIC and its mounts then scrapped the bumper to shit. Most drivers wont hesitate to tow a lifted vehicle.

This is exactly what the tow truck driver did when I had to have my Camaro towed home from a car show last year .I requested a flatbed and when the driver showed up he started documenting the tow with pics of my Camaro from every angle . The pics of it hooked up using the correct way and how the straps were placed to secure for transport

He even used 2x4's to help decrease the angle so it wouldn't scrape the spoiler

That's a good driver!! I always let them know lowered car and driver needs wood. Then I need flatbed as my car is AWD and would kill drivetrain. He even entered my vehicle from passenger side and was told by a driver they sometimes do that so if they accidentally scratch your paint you dont notice it and if a customer complains of scratched paint in driver side they can say we never enter on drivers side to cover there ass! Lol.

Call Autoclub dispatch center ( road side emergency #) and ask to talk to supervisor about the damage done by the ICS that came out to you !!

You're in San Diego right ??? . I believe there's (2) dispatch call centers , one in the North County and the other one in Mission Valley

I’m not defending aaa but I have no idea if your numbers are at all accurate. In addition the fee’s and premiums my vary from by location to location and be different in different parts of the country. But mostly based on your numbers the what you call profit are grossly wrong. Profit is income minus expenses. A small example of expenses would include things like employees salary and benefits, building rent, taxes, insurance , legal fees and on and on and on.... Most companies profit margins are low from 3 to 10%. Some companies of course like the tech companies are way way higher. So if the profit margin is say 10% profit, in your 3 examples would be $4, $20 , and over 9 years $60. Even if the profit margin was 20% those numbers would be $8, $40, $120. Just 2 other points, no one forces anyone to purchase aaa coverage and the tow companies are not forced to contract with aaa. If they were losing money on all their aaa tows they would either not contract with aaa or possibly go out of business. Again I’m not defending or promoting aaa, the general information here would apply to most companies.

I agree most profit margins are 3-8%. But, that is a over all profit margin, in the grand scheme of things their roadside services revenue is pretty small in comparison to the insurance side of things.

True, that was the very simple dumbed down version. The main point I was trying to get across is that for most people paying $80 to $120 per year for AAA is a waste of money. People that say, I got a AAA 100 mile tow for $0, don't mention how many years they have paid the AAA premium and got nothing. Some people that drive POS vehicles a long ways from civilization, probably come out OK, but most people are not getting "free" tows, when you add up the numbers.

I agree but nothing is free. When I lived in the SF Bay Area a tow would cost you $140 to $200 plus out of pocket if you didn’t have tow insurance. People have aaa for peace of mind and hope you don’t have to use it. When you do need it you just dial the 800 number and you know someone is coming to help you. Unfortunately for the OP aaa f’d Up but that is the rarity not the norm. It’s like any insurance you pay for it but hope you don’t need it.

Not saying the tow truck driver isnt a dummy for effing up your truck but..

he didnt try the gas first because you were stuck in a dangerous spot. Highway patrol had been notified and they are on those guys asses to not do what the vehicle owner is asking and just tow it the hell off the road as quickly as possible !

Thats how highway patrol thinks. Theres no time for diagnostics like hmm lets try some gas and see if it starts. Respectfully, tow truck drivers are always pulling up to ass-hats (not saying you) that are trying to avoid a tow and they're asking the tow truck driver to "just try some gas" or "i think it needs a jump". The guys car needs repair, not "a jump". Meanwhile, the cars are flying by and the driver has to stand there while the guy gets his special bottle of seafoam out of the trunk that "worked last time this happend". In his mind people are always trying to waste his time
Again, not saying you @anthony250f , but you know this happens

As a result, alot of times, tow truck drivers do have their time wasted and they have to put that cost on the rest of us. Our rates go up, they cut costs by using cheaper, untrained drivers

In his defense, he was probably in a hurry and didnt mean to hurt your truck. These other guys on here talking tough about inspecting every tie-down and following the driver around are doing it in their own driveways with a beer in their hand, not on the freeway in rush hour

But absolutely they should not be giving you the runaround, they should fix it with oem parts/labor and apologize

Good luck OP, your dog is bad-ass too!
