Sux man. It happened to me a few months back. All the guy did was beak a bunch of my dash and strip the bolts to my stereo mounts. you can't replace the feeling of being violated, especially when it is at your own home, but everything in the truck is replaceable.

Sorry to hear that - it is definitely a terrible feeling.

I had my car broken into in highschool, the bastards stole my subs, head unit, amp, radar detector, all my cds, knife, zippo, car charger, fog light switch, rear view mirror, garage door opener, history text book, etc....As a grown man I swore not to cry, but I weeped on my drive home. The hardest part was that it happened in my highschool parking lot; some asswipe was walking the hallway and knew what they did to ME. Everyone was a suspect for a few weeks in my mind. Whenever someone looked at me when I walked by, they were immediately guilty.

Low and behold, a "buddy" of mine had the same radar detector show up in his car two weeks later. I confronted him in the parking lot after seeing it and asked him to open his trunk (his new subs were pretty loud). He wouldn't do it, told me to "F*** off", got in his car and peeled outta there. The radar detector was gone the next day and he said his "stock speakers" made all that bass when freely showing me his trunk the next morning. My actual buddies and I gave him a little tune up but never got my stuff back.

All I can say is to try looking around craigslist for your items. Search surrounding towns and try searching for any misspellings of your items also. If you do find someone selling the same items that were stolen, you know what to do. Good Luck.

No money, all went to truck...
This has been happening a lot on Oahu. Thieves use cracked pieces of porcelain to throw through your window and run up to your truck and grab your stuff.

Its amazing how quick they can do this. Start running toward your truck, throw the porcelain, and grab your stuff all in one motion.

Sad thing is even if they catch the thieves, they'll probably walk pretty quick

Man that sucks, they broke into my gf's card recently and that made us switch into a new car for her (been on the fence for sometime now). I have left my truck inlocked a few times with my shady ass neighbors and all my stuff is still there, like this morning. I think you should let it go and take it as a lesson on how to better manage things in your truck. I don't mean to say you were at fault at all but I keep things out of my truck just for this type of situation. Well good luck with finding your stuff.

First, why did'nt you call the cops? Second, this is why no-one should EVER leave a garage door opener in their car.

Ive had mine gone into once. 1st time it was my fault and i left it unlocked. i though i lived in a nice neighboorhood.... i lost my favorite .357

2nd time they tried to break the window with a flathead screwdriver and failed miserably so they broke my drivers side mirror as a consolation prize....

Needless to say every so often i set up a trail cam outside my truck at night in hopes that i can catch the f**ker on camera.....

    oh well life goes on

First of all, the cops were notified immediately, took finger prints off my car and basically told me that unless the guy has a criminal background (unlikely if it was a highschool kid), they would never find 'em. The second I saw the radar detector in their car, I went to the school cop and explained the situation again and was told "If you cannot prove that the radar detector is yours, there is nothing we can do. We cannot ask him to open his trunk because you think he might have stolen your equipment." I do not know anyone who has the serial number of that type of equipment on record....called Radio Shack where I bought it and they do not store that information on purchases, they would only have the product number. Sucks when you are 100% sure of something and the cops can't do anything to help you. Learned my lesson real quick and I have an excel folder in my computer showing a receipt photo with the item and serial number to my important equipment. Probably won't do much in the future, but you never know.

Also regarding the garage door opener, now it makes perfect sense and I warn anyone I know who has it clipped to their sun visor. The second I finished getting done with the cop investigation, I went home and flipped a few switches on the door receiver to make a new code.

Today has been crazy. The idiot broke my clock assembly trying to pull my stereo. Luckily the screen to the stereo had just gone out. There were no signs of forced entry. Maybe they jimmied the truck? What sucks is I had just gotten a solid axle done and now I have to fork up $$$$ for the repairs to bring her back up to par. As for the laptop appl told me they can't "track" it unless I have the Find my Mac installed on it. I called the local PD I told them nothing had been touched on the inside at the time I called they told me these things get handled over the phone and I would be getting a call later this afternoon. I finally got the call from a woman and at the same time while talking to me she's telling someone her lunch order. WTH?!?!

Another step to make your garage even more safe is to install a wireless remote outlet. It connect inline with your garage door opener and outlet. So you would have your regular remote for the garage door. Plus a remote to disconnect the power to the garage door. It might be a hassle to have two remote but this is a great setup that I been using.
