Yes, I miss the days of putting the key in the ignition with my right hand and yanking on the steering wheel with my left hand to get my vehicle started.

Time to get a RFID-blocking keyfob pouch, there are tons of options on Amazon, just search for faraday cage key pouch or rfid key pouch. Anytime you're not physically driving your truck, keep the fob in there. That way nobody can boost the signal and gain entry to your vehicle

Great suggestion. I’m going to look into these!

At work, drove my commuter Corolla, thinking about this so somebody help me out and correct me if I am wrong...

When using the lock unlock buttons on the FOB or key you get horn and light flashes per my memory. (OP didnt mention any light flashes on video)

When using keyless entry you dont get any flashes or horn, just unlocks.

Normally dome light turns on before you touch handle if using keyless entry, as soon as truck detects your Fob within range.

Opening door with key on keyless entry system will cause passive alarm to activate I thought...

Relock only relocks the truck if you hit unlock but never touch the door handle. It doesn't lock it if you didnt lock the truck.

If I made any mistakes above, please tell me, going by memory.

So if memory serves, OP, check your video. Are you 100% sure you locked it. Did you lock by key fob, or door handle. Can you see light flash verification of locking.
Can you see it being unlocked by light flashes, or dome light turns on before he touches showing key fob proximity?

I know it will appear like I am an ass, but didnt lock it is the first possible cause to examine.

If it wasnt locked, dome light would have stayed on initially for awhile, and turned on as soon as door opened...

(Edit, OP you mentioned checking it was locked, didnt have keyless entry fob on you?)

I'm now curious what the range of our fobs are? I'm wondering if I should put my key in one while sitting at work. I park about 200 feet from where my office is.

This is what I do. My room where I store the keys is close enough to the truck that someone looking to receive the fob signal and unlock the truck could potentially do that. From what I've researched, once the fob is deactivated to save battery, there is no longer any signal for them to receive. So problem solved. So need for a metal box, or a special fob cover. The feature is already built right into your key fob and very easy to use.

hid head lights, hid fog lights, always on fog lights, bed lights
I highly doubt the thief is sophisticated enough to bypass the keyless entry. I don't think they will only get the keys after going through all that trouble bypassing the keyless entry.

Get a Rubber snake and place on the dash. Same on top of tail gate.

Most folks will be scurd and run off

They are much better now. Any old Honda parked on a street can be taken with almost no effort.

Also, manual transmission in itself is theft deterrent...

I am surprised how many people skipped this in the manual. I always disable the fob while Im walking into my house, and all the spare fobs are kept turned off too.

Good trick to remember for those surfers and other aquatic sports folks that stash their fob near or in the truck, too.

I do this every day when I park at work and at home. Also out in the woods when I camp if the truck is nearby just to save battery

Yeah, you’d need to do your best Indiana Jones moves to get back the wheel!
