Some new pics from my most recent camping trip. Peacock flats on the north west side of Oahu.
Was just My daughter, wife myself and the doggies this time. Just some quiet quality time before my daughter has to go back to school.

The dogs always enjoy it :)

Outhouse was infested with yellow jackets, so I managed to snipe them all at a pretty good distance with my daughter airsoft. Was too much fun :D That little thing is dead on at that range. Floor was littered with bug parts...

Didn't get a chance to shoot much wheeling pics. but I'm pretty sure this is where Totoro lives...

Looks like a great trip! Beautiful scenery. Your campsite reminds me of Yosemite Creek Campground.

how do you like the tarp? wish kelty still made that model.... it would be nice to have a little more shade sometimes as i tend to camp in more open areas without a lot of tree cover.

cool tree pic too - love those gnarled old trunks!

image.jpg This shows the lightweight bulkhead that lifts out with out any tools, but is held securely in place by the bed slats. Two positions, high and low, for the slats.

    Thank you!

I love that tarp. It is folded in the photos but had to open it all the way due to some thunderstorms and hail, covered our camp and we stayed completely dry. One of my pet peeves is cooking when the sun is beating down on me, so it helps with that as well. :)

In second picture, maybe pit or pit mix :notsure: Pretty pup none the less. My wife loves pitbulls. We have a mutt that has a tad bit of pit in her. Sweet dogs.

hey, i love the contractor cap, great security! I want one, don't really do camping, but i will whith a cap. Hows ventilation sleeping in there? how heavy would you say the cap is?

i got a 4 cyl. and i think I'm just going to get a light aluminum with a rack and I've been looking for sliding windows

I'm headed up to Vermont next week. Stopping in PA, Harrisburg/Gettysburg, area for the first night on the way up. Need a good camping spot to roll into kinda late and flip out the RTT. Preferably somewhat secluded. I called the ranger's office at Michaux NF and they said they only have "parking lots" for "motorized campers". So if anyone knows anything a little less....:frusty: ....please lmk...:help:

I have had several tops over the years. This is by far the best in every respect.

Side doors are great for reaching stuff. Not so great for a dog in the back. Much better security than windows.

When sleeping I keep the truck to cap windows open. I got a little rainin there, so I may have to think on that.

I have been opening the side doors, turning the latch so the door is open a crack when I close it down. So far no water in it. Yet to be tested in a real rain storm.

My guess is that the cap is a bit over 200 lbs. I was able to lift it on and off myself, one end at a time.

The rear widow has the screening on it. Much better than the big glass door!

I had a four cly. 22re for many years. Had a cap on it. Probably lighter than this one, but that truck went everywhere I asked to. I wouldn't hesitate to put the commercial cap on one.

This cap is so much better to sleep in than the cab height ones!

One of the nice things about being inside a cap, or sleeping inside the cab like I do on solo trips to Death Valley for example, is you're damn near impervious to the incredible forces of unrelenting wind.

I almost got a commercial cap, because they are designed to take the constant use and abuse. Very well designed IMO.

Smokey the blue pit is a pure pitbull with papers. Sasha, the red nose is half pit and half bulldog supposedly, but looks nothing like a bulldog... Both are super good dogs. Probably the best dogs I ever had.

Badger Lake in the Mount Hood National Forest. The road is almost 4 wheel drive required these days, unless you like thrashing on your 2 wheel drive.

Lake was down quite a bit but still had plenty of water for canoeing and fishing. I really need to get a canoe one of these days. Lots of stuff on the list, only so much money...

check out this michaux state forest. pine grove furnace and lake caladonia are good places to check out. there are miles and miles of dirt road to drive around and explore in that area. I have a very good friend down there so i usually run my 10 miles in 4x4 a month when i get down there :) i have never camped out there but i know tons of people do, and I'm sure you can get away with camping out of your truck for a night or 2 without issues.
tons to do, miles of hiking trails, and miles of atv trails, bring bathing suits they have a few beaches in pine grove and if you have a kyak bring it and go to lake caladonia waterfalls to check out and islands to explore. Also check out Hammounds rock on ridge road, wild place.

other then that you won't find anything camp out of your truck in this area, and if you do please let me know! you can head way up 81 into the mountains past rosch creek and pretty much camp wherever you want. Hell theres litterally nothing up there, except mountains forest and wind turbines

Petervice, ill be getting something soon, sort of will jump on the best deal i can find, i do like the head room in yours!

I use to have a outfitter 6 also. Used it for Elk hunting when I lived in Colorado. Great tent, I would put a cot and small table in it and use a small propane heater in the morning to get the chill out.
Does great in the snow. When we expected heavy snow I would put a plastic tarp over the fly and it would shed every bit of the snow. Great investment.
