Not really truck camping, but my wife and I are hauling the camper with the Tacoma for the first time tomorrow. Heading to Burlington, VT for the week.

I ended up ordering it off Amazon, and it has been great the last couple trips, even if I end up getting a full time solid mount awning I will keep it as it folds up so tiny, and provides a great amount of extra shade.

So I can take the bikes camping without putting them on the roof.

Plus I can still open the bed, a must.IMG_3553.jpgIMG_3554.jpg IMG_3555.jpg

Tornado warnings up there this afternoon. Got pretty nasty for half an hour or so.

The Tacoma hitch is higher up than the Silverados was, and the camper is really low. I had to buy a new drop shank and re-adjust everything. Glad I only have to do that once!

I had a swingout thule 4-bike rack on our old Ford E150 'traveler' passenger van... it did not do well over time, it sagged and bent, the bolt that holds it together half stripped. I'd be VERY gentle offroad if you have bikes mounted on one of those.

I just want to thank those of you who bring us so many beautiful parts of this country! Some day I intend to buy a camper and spend the rest of my days traveling to see the beauty of it all. But, until then, I have to take care of Mom.
