Just off the side of the road between Nelson,BC and Ainsworth Hotsprings. Just had a nice day of zip lining and stopped by a creek on the way back to Ainsworth.

Pretty awesome they save it. There was an article on Pinkbike about it, saying there were over 40k inquiries and Utah decided to leave it as is.

If you ever get a chance, theres a ton of good riding around the area. Up where i was, has probably 40 miles of semi-slick rock and desert wooded trails. Off the north end of the Mesa, you can hit Grafton DH which can get pretty gnarly. The "Grafton Gap" is on the way to the out to the parking area near an old graveyard. Then the other side past the far Mesa in the picture, you have Guacamole trails and if you wanna get your Rampage on, the old Rampage site is behind it. King Kong and Flying Monkey are somewhere in the area as well. Thats quite a bit past my riding level so i usually stick to Gooseberry and Guac. If i'm feeling frisky, i'll do Grafton DH.

EDIT: If you want a VERY FAST and flowy trail, JEM is pretty sweet. Its a blue trail so things can get pretty wild at full pin. JEM and Grafton are shuttle-able trails.

Sweet! East Coast riding is totally different. Not a ton of overall vert but extreme elevation change. Headed to BC at the end of this month for a race, I am stoked to ride non-east coast dirt

A few months ago I showed up late on a Thursday night to find all of the normal spots full, and it wasn't even a big holiday weekend. I have never seen Alabama Hills crowded like that before. I ended up finding the absolute perfect spot with the best views at the top, it all worked out..

It's out of control for sure. The next morning I took a stroll on the Arch trail before leaving the area and came across a family of German and Chinese tourist fighting over who's turn it is to take a pic at the Arch with the Sierra's in the back ground. I even tried to tried to help out the situation by suggestion I'll take a pic of each family with using their cameras. I was loving it!

Part of what I love about the Flip-Pac (or FWC, or RTT) is that my only requirement for a campsite is that I'm not blocking traffic. So in more crowded places or seasons I can keep myself away from the riff-raff by camping almost anywhere along whatever dirt road. For me a too close neighbor is anyone within half a mile of me ;)

Some places like Alabama Hills have topography that allows much closer camping while still having privacy. Unfortunately too many people feel the wilderness desperately needs the injection of their vapid music tastes or that alcohol fueled booming voices until midnight are appropriate. So usually distance is the surest way to ensure both visual and sonic solitude. That way I can be happy and the noisy folks can enjoy themselves how they want too.

13 cupholders for beer. All the Weathertechs.

This is what a couple buddies and I do. If we are going wheeling/camping together, but are meeting up at separate times, we'll send each other coordinates, because we find locations by scouting on google maps or google earth.

I did a trip in June to the Owens Valley and a friend was coming from the Bay Area. I had plotted a ton of potential campsites. I arrived first and did a lot of scouting new to me areas. Ended up at the first one I found near a creek with tree cover. Fortunately we both had reception so I could text him the coordinates.
