Just got back from five days in Death Valley.
Wind/sandstorms but good temps and travels.

I was wondering if I'd run into you, but I know you were on the east side mostly, correct? I was west and north...still windy, but way clearer than when I passed through DV proper last Thursday - that was crazy, could barely see the other side - my view as I came in from Beatty:

Nope I was right there with you. Sunday Night I was out near the Funeral Mountains and actually had to bring the top down due to the wind. It was crazy. Woke up and it was really nice. Nice until I got to Rhyolite and it started picking up. I checked the weather (aviation) for the usual suspects: Long Beach, Edwards AFB, China Lake, Mammoth, and Bishop. That gives me a pretty good idea for actual observations and forecasts. It wasn't looking good. Still headed out to do Titus. I haven't done that since my first trip to DV and it was great. At the mouth of the canyon it was a whole different story. Just like in the above photo. Stuck with my plan to get to The Racetrack. Grapevine Ranger Station was a good place to stop but the wind was still cranking. Ubehebe was quite the experience. I have a pair of goggles in my hiking pack for just these times. The grains of sand stung any skin open to the elements. Still, standing on the edge of Ubehebe in crazy winds during a dust storm was a rare experience. I got to the Racetrack Valley and it was much better. Spent the night there and all was well in the AM. Fog actually came in that night and Tin Mountain and White Top Mountain looked to have snow on them in the early morning hours.

Starting the next couple weeks (after 7/12 nightshift job ends) I will start to build my bed out for the summer. I plan on making 2 pull out lockable drawer system (sleep on top) with 5’ HD sliders (500lbs) to make a table top while they are open.
Looking to get a 100watt solar panel for a 12v. Mounted on prinsu. And a 7gallon water tank mounted on the prinsu for showers (looking for a small pump to push water). I will be making aluminum brackets and what not to make them secured down.
Any other recomendations for a build?

If I could be so bold, you may want to look in my build thread. I built a platform/drawer very similar to what you described. I really like mine - all I still need to do is add locking handles to the drawers.

Something else to consider is an awning. Depending where you are, shade can be really nice.

Nice! Did the same thing, but on the opposite end of the quick connect added another quick connect to span a wire connection out to the outside track of the awning for another LED strip out there.

Also added a strip of bright white and a strip of amber lights both inner and outer track so I can switch between the two.

The Death Valley trip continues - Goler Wash, Charcoal Kilns, Mahogany Flat, Panamint Valley, South Pass, and Saline Valley - quite the day.

Return to Death Valley - Day 3

...As I crawled into the tent, a warm light breeze and quiet
sounds of the desert lulled me to sleep quickly. Even if
the springs weren't the amazing destination that they used to be,
the desert itself made up for it - that was for sure.

Little did I know that as I slept change was afoot...

The same shit everyone else has.
I finally got to sleep in my shell this past weekend. Temps ranged between 50* and clear the first night down to mid the 20*s and 20+mph NW winds and snow the second night. Slept comfortably on a sleeping pad/self inflating mattress with a 45* bag and wool blanket.

100% happy I decided to replace the Bestop with a fiberglass shell.
