    Just the basics
How long have you been paragliding? I'd love to learn to do it.

i work in skydiving (24yrs), and my friend taught me to speedfly (small paraglider) for staying closer to terrain - 4 years ago, then he taught me to fly a paraglider on these sand dunes. so im unlicensed - or can only fly unlicensed spots, which suits my style anyway i guess - being away from most people.......if you want to fall down a rabbit hole....

Finally finished writing up the story of the De-Tour - an adventure that @Blackdawg, @m3bassman, @Digiratus, @Speedytech7, @drr, @IDtrucks, and @Glenn_R took some 14 months ago. Was quite the trip - so much so that we had to bail on the original plan after breaking Frankenstein for the last time (well, to date anyway).

Monte and I both wrote up versions of the adventure - it's a long one, but check it out. Good post-turkey reading.

How does that saying go? "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, ..."

If you've been a reader of previous trip reports, you may recall one of the craziest trips to date - The De-Tour - which occurred almost exactly one year ago (but that just finished writing up and posting). That trip was a great one for many reasons, but it had gone nothing like we'd expected - snowing or raining every day - eventually forcing us to abandon our Tour of Montana and Wyoming for what we hoped were clearer skies, in Utah.

...where it also rained on us.

Even so, it wasn't long before we started talking about "next year." And before long, "next year" was now...

Read all of chapter 1, and get ready for a trip even more awesome than the last!

I hit a few spots around Anza Borrego and Ocotillo. Unfortunately I'll be up North for the holidays. I'd recommend Sheep Canyon, the rest...ehhhh. I ran out of time to get to Calcite mine and then find camp before dark so we skipped it, looks like a fun challenging little trail. Arroyo Salado trail was a tough one to follow across the wash when it opens up, but we found it eventually. Good luck and have fun!

For sure, I don't even see beer in the picture! Just a bunch of V8 cans and can of water.

    This is awesome!

What was the third day for Dan, Mike and I was actually the day we'd meet Zane and Monte for the official start of the trip. We were up early with a lot of miles to cover - and some great stops along the way - before we'd arrive in Cooke City at our designated meeting time of 5pm.

The question on all of our minds - when would Monte show up?

Read all of day 3 and check out the photos:
