Lost Rd Rehab Fever and Truck Camping

    tried to get close to Mt. St. Helens, but there was still too much snow blocking roads, closest I could get was about 4 miles north of Spirit Lake off a Forest Service Rd;
at the dead end of a FS road I found the remnants of an old, unmarked forest road; typical debris:
    lr2.jpg

decided to see where this lost forest road led to, unleashed my 14" Silky and had at it:
    lr4.jpg

initially it was so narrow I backed in as I cleared; also got my first mosquito bites of the season:
    lr6.jpg

stopped at 4PM, relocated to a more open area with better view for the night:
    lr8.jpg

only got down to 40F at night; billions of stars; overnight I developed "Lost road fever" and was resolved to hit again the next day:
    lr10.jpg

the next day at .7 miles in I located a nice flat area for a remote campsite:
    lr12.jpg

    man, these mountains are steep!
    lr14.jpg

about 100 feet up the road past this campsite was a large snag I was definitely not keen to tackle:
    lr16.jpg

however, about 100 feet past the snag the decision was made for me; this is how my Lost forest road ends- no gold mine, no hidden
    Shangri-La, just a wash-out!
down to only 2 feet wide:

Did some camper boondocking at Carrizo Plain National Monument last month after the superbloom crowds faded away and this month spent a night truck camping at my all time favorite Songdog Ranch in the Cuyama Badlands. (California)

Nap-camping. I started working graveyard shift again last summer, thus my sleep quality suffers, so my most of my vacation time is spent finding quiet places to nap and rehabilitate with my dog, who is a napping expert.

Just got back. Camped near Cherry Springs since it was all booked up. Still went Saturday night. Skies were pretty good. A little smoke cover from the Canadian wildfires still. Looking to go back later this season. I know there's a lot of open space there but anyone have recommendations on a nearby camp spot? Always looking to try someplace new. Dont mind the iPhone image of the sky lol. Tried to capture those lasers the rangers use during programs. I'm still in awe of those things

Found a nice place over at Hood Canal off Highway 101 to do a quick shake down run to try out some new gear. Not as secluded as we normally like but the campground was very well maintained.

Our first time. We have passed by several times. A nice campground. There are variations in sites. RV all the way to walk-in tent and overflow. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds are great.
